A great early season matchup although Valley coming right out of football will hurt them. 2 very good athletic teams. I pick Ironton by 10

Tough second game for the Indians, but they will go up and play hard!

IF they can come out of the 1st 6 @ 3-3 I'll be very pleased.

Hillsboro
Ironton
Piketon
Burg
Minford
Northwest
(not in order)

I might be a bit disappointed with 3-3 in the first six 8) I know it's a tough schedule to start but I think they'll surprise some people.

I'll take that action in any betting circle ;)

I see Ironton as the favorite to win this game, but I'll be absolutely stunned if its by a 20-point margin. I'd be much less surprised to see the Indians pull an upset than seeing a blowout either way. Obviously Carter and Fletcher are special players for Ironton and White is perhaps the best "3rd option" south of Columbus. I also think the Tigers have a solid supporting cast around those 3 kids. As for Valley, this team is quite possibly going to be better than last year. They lost 4 very talented and productive seniors from a season ago, but this year they are much deeper (2-deep at every position), and will again have consistent productivity from every facet of the game. They have size, shooters, a pair of capable point guards and understand how to get after it at the defensive end and on the glass.

I expect a good match-up, just like last year.

After seeing Valley play last night I think Ironton will have their hands full and them some This will be a test for both teams Yes Valley still has some things to work on but I am already going to say they will contend for the SOC this year also...

This is going to be a great early season test for the Indians. Valley is deep and athletic, but they will have to handle the ball and defend without fouling to get a W Tuesday night.

This really shouldn't be much of a test for Ironton...

With Valley not impressing me in the win over the team of Hillsboro Sophmores( I think they have one Senior) at the Tip Off, I feel Valley gets beat by 24 to32 points by Ironton unless Ironton Subs when they get up by large margin.

Sounds like Valley might as well just stay home.

dont know which team you were watching at Zane Trace the other night, but I thought Valley looked aufully good. They are deep, and play good d. They are long, athletic, and rebound well. I am not a fan, but I believe they should be in any game they play around here anyway. I will admit I know nothing about Ironton...

Valley in a close one. Dunn will equalize Fletcher inside, and Valley is much deeper than Ironton.

I've been posting play-by-play updates for Ironton games based on calls broadcast on WIRO radio for a few years now. I think Ironton has the best announcers/play-callers in the business!
The guys who call the Ironton games on the radio regularly say stuff like names of towns/schools and the time and the score! Thanks in advance to Jason and Kevin and Jeff - you're the best!

Here's the link info that worked last year - but I don't know if it's still the same for this year.

ALMOST GAME TIME - GO IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS
On the radio on WIRO 1230 AM - granted not a powerful station with wide range.
Jason Philyaw and Kevin Anthonee with the call - they're the best
But it's also on the internet: http://www.foxsports1230.com/main.html
Click on LISTEN LIVE at the top left corner then on PLAY STATION in the middle

Anyone who thinks this game will be an Ironton blowout doesn't remember last year's game at Valley. Valley had the Tigers on the ropes for much of the second half, before faltering late. You may also recall that Valley, not Ironton, gave Portsmouth it biggest Southeast District/Region scare before losing to the Trojans by only 4 at the Convo. Granted, Valley lost some key seniors off last year's squad, but the Indians have the advantage of one full game under their belts already. A team always makes its biggest improvement between the first and second games. Plus, Ironton has been banged up in the football-shortened preseason, so the Tigers will no doubt still be working out the kinks. I look for a really good, early-season gut check game for both squads.

Ironton is tough. I will take Valley though. I have heard they are actually more talented overall than last years team.
