12/11 - IRONTON 68 vs Waverly 20 -FINAL

Post by caglewis »

ALMOST GAME TIME - GO IRONTON FIGHTING TIGERS
On the radio on WIRO 1230 AM - granted not a powerful station with wide range.
Jason Philyaw and Jeff Linn with the call - they're the best
But it's also on the internet: http://www.foxsports1230.com/main.html
Click on LISTEN LIVE at the top left corner then on PLAY STATION in the middle.

This game is listed at 5:00 on the schedule, but at 5:55 it's not on the radio yet.
When it comes on WIRO, I'll be back.

7:00 - pregame show just coming on the air.

JV GAME FINAL SCORE = IRONTON 32 - Waverly 26

IT = IRONTON TIGERS ............ WT = WAVERLY TIGERS

Ironton may very well win the State while Waverly is searching for an identity with only 2 returning players with varsity experience. Everyone knew Waverly's schedule was going to be tough and could very well have started 0-5. The Tigers are missing Philip Hart badly and can't get discouraged. It doesn't get any easier Friday as Minford comes to town. Waverly just needs to keep working hard at improving.

Robertson is still at Waverly. How is the reserve team looking? Any talent at the Jr.High? How long before Waverly rebuilds? Everyone knew losing Kretzer would hurt. Alot of questions coming out of Waverly right now. Keep your heads up, the schedule hasn't been in your favor.

Not really a lot of questions. They lost Kretzer who is doing very well at Akron as a freshman, 4 year varsity player and 3 year starter at the point in Kelly, in addition to Ward, Corcoran and Davis. Waverly returned 1 starter in White and only one other varsity player in Hart. Everyone knew it would be rough, people need to be patient and support these kids. When it's all said and done these are 15, 16, 17 year olds doing the best they can. Get behind them and encourage them. The Tigers are rebuilding now, teamworkwins. These guys will gain experience as the year progresses and the main thing they're missing right now more than anything is leadership experience and cohesiveness.

smurray, alot questions meaning: Who is going to step up and lead this team? When is Hart going to return? How is this team going to find points? Seems like a few questions that need to be answered in order to take the next step. Robertson will put the time and effort in to make them better.

Ok, thought you meant Waverly folks asking a lot of questions as in a negative way. Those are indeed areas of concern. Hart may be back for the classic (29th/30th) but that may be cutting it close.

Definitely didn't mean that in a negative way. Sorry if it came across that way. Just some questions I was thinking about. Good Luck this season.

Looks like Waverly put too much into stopping Fletcher or is that just the way the game went.
