That's odd ... Athens didn't lose a game and dropped from 4th - to - 7th ...

and wonder how they went from being ahead of Logan Elm - who they beat at Logan Elm - to being placed a slot behind them.

Quality wins....poor losses

It's a lot of work but would help in doing these.

I still say there's Ironton/Warren....and everything else is very tough to decide at this time.

With Athens...the Logan Elm win and the Wellston loss pretty much cancel each other out. Help us out bulldog.....other than those outcomes, what has Athens done?

Good question.. I had Athens ahead of LE based on that fact.. but some people are probably looking at the Wellston upset over Athens still. What hurts Athens in that case is the fact that the Rockets haven't won since.

Athens wins at Peake, Logan Elm, Gallia Academy, New Lex

Loss at Home against Wellston

Who made Athens schedule? Lol They live on the road early and live at home after that.

Now let's do Logan Elm....not sure their resume is better.

Yeah....it bothers me but if I knew more about LE. I know LE is not what they normally are but have a great coach and past so you assume they are good.

Peake is not the team they typically are....but from my missing knowledge it looks like Athens should be over LE.....but my problem is that I've watched Jackson get beat badly by everyone....it's hard to watch, but against Wellston they had a 10 point lead in the late seconds of the 3rd....then our 2nd best player leaves the game and can't return due to injury...Wellston went on to win but being there I'm not sure we don't go on to win that game....and having watched Jackson 4 times...it's hard for me to overlook them beating Athens the very next game.

Again...it's still pretty early.

The loss to Wellston - and the win over Logan Elm - was factored in last week when Athens was ranked 4th.

They beat New Lex - but dropped to 7th AND dropped below Logan Elm ...

its all good though - got some great games coming up (especially versus Warren on the 8th) that will tell us more about the 'Dogs - and Warriors maybe.

I'm not big on Piketon at #4 over Zane Trace.

I like Webster getting some love there a good team I also feel Notre Dame is knocking on the top 10 door. There schedual isn't quite as tuff as some in the top 10 now but they are winning and that's what matters only loss was on the road to Minford.

Zane Trace has beat one team with a winning record. They play Logan Elm and Piketon in their next two games.

Yeah....but again it's early. Piketon just squeaked by Westfall who was winless and took a last second shot to beat Southeastern right after Westfall got their first win by beating them.

Zane Trace just went to Fairfield and beat them (they aren't doing great but beat Piketon in a scrimmage right before the season (I know..I know)

I think this list looks more accurate each week....it'll continue to play itself out.

Kinda shocked seeing Oak Hill getting enough love to land at the #3 spot. Not sure I agree with the voters, but anxious to see them in person.

The team they beat also beat Piketon and it was their only loss.

Surprised you've become a Piketon hater....but I'm sure your hate will increase once they get healthy and start rolling! :122246 The bottom line...Polls don't mean squat...the games will be played and it will soon come out in the wash!

BTW....Fairfield scrimmaged Piketon the Tuesday after football season, played two quarters leading 27-25 and coach put them on the bus. Is that really a win?

And yes danicalfonia Unioto beat Piketon (minus their best player and a key sub) 68-62.....again...we will see how it goes. That was a good road win for the Shermans! That was only Piketon's third home SVC loss in the past 40 SVC home games.

and Unioto hasn't had their top ball handler available all year and may not at all, but that's not why Zane Trace beat them, in fact, this is probably the first time it's been mentioned at all.

Piketon will likely prove their worth by the end of the season, but I agree for now. We'll see in 9 days when Piketon travels to Zane Trace in a huge matchup.

The Streaks haven't put up impressive results, but they have done what they've needed to do to win games. Good teams avoid the upset and they have done it so far and I think showed what they are capable of with the pounding of Fairland on Saturday night. I fully expect them to walk through the Pike Co tourney this weekend as well.

Polls are always amusing and don't mean squat. It's fun discussion, but ultimately every team holds its destiny within its own hands when the tournament starts.

A few points:

1. I don't give a crap about scrimmages, especially when a team like Piketon is coming off the playoffs. Same for Athens. I give teams who were in the playoffs a few weeks of break in the regular-season, because they are still trying to round into form. In general, scrimmages are arenas where coaches are working on developing their players and aren't concerned about final scores.

2. I'd have Athens above Logan Elm based on head-to-head. Now, if LE would have one loss in late January and Athens has five, I could make a case for them to be flipped. I don't see that happening, and both will probably have similar records. LE-Athens could very well meet again on a tournament floor. And I'm sure both teams will show improvement from now until then.

It happens in most polls, its the body of evidence and not head to head that matters. For Instance Penn State beat Northwestern preety well, Northwestern is high in the coiaches poll and we are looking in from the outside
