Nelsonville-York

Post by Orange and Brown »

Nelsonville-York is playing good basketball and have a shot to make a nice run heading into sectionals.

Lets get some conversation started about these young men.

Seven different players have led the Buckeyes in scoring throughout the season ... that's pretty impressive.

I have them ranked third O & B ... http://trivalleyconference.com/Leaderboards.html

But your comment about 'making a run' will be tough. They have to travel to VINTON COUNTY (10-3), to ATHENS (12-2), to CROOKSVILLE (7-7 ... and let me just say Mitchel Swingle is a heckuva player for the Ceramics) ... you still have another game with WELLSTON (8-7) at home and a rematch with FEDERAL HOCKING (11-3).

The young Bucks don't need to win all those games because their DIII Athens sectional is somewhat weak ... if they just keep playing good basketball - and keep improving - they will be in good shape for the tournament.

I don't have any illusions of NY making a big post season run. Realistically I think if they can finish second in the Ohio that it would really help keep the program to get stronger.

101 views and only 3 posts!! Sad, but this is one of the reason Basketball at NY has struggled over the years. They get almost zero support from the community.

I wish mpre people would support the program and show these boys some support.

Jay will have them ready. I think we are now seeing why folks have been saying for years that Jay is a great coach. After the graduation of one of the best basketball players to ever play at NY last year he is still getting these kids to perform. Aside from Athens with all the talent they have this year, Jay has pretty much dominated the rest of the league. I look for a deep tourny run for the Bucks this year as well.

there will be no deep tourney run.....IF they make it out of the sectional, they will get destroyed at the convo

depends on the seeding ... I don't think a team like Minford or Chesapeake (this years peake team) would destroy NY ... the DIII is not as strong as it has been the last couple of years, the Buckeyes could get to the Convo and be competitive given the right match-up.

Minford and Chesapeake probably won't get out of their sectional this year. They are both down.

Minford is (11-3) and in line for the No. 3 or No. 4 seed at Jackson.
Chesapeake is (10-4) and is looking like they will be in the 4 vs 5 slot.

... Coach Kline has done an outstanding coaching/teaching job with the 2012-13 Nelsonville York squad ... the Buckeyes have shown they should not be counted out vs any opponent they face ... I too feel NY will have a chance to advance to the Convo ... obviously the proof will come in February at the Athens sectional but no team in that sectional should take Coach Kline & his Buckeyes lightly ...

No, I did not mean aside from anyone. Jay has proven that as of late.
