Re: D3 Southeast District 13-14
Out of the SVC:
Southeastern returns 4 starters and 7 of their top 8. They showed glimpses of what they could be, but also went through some major growing pains. They will have a good bit of talent, but can they finally pull it together?
Zane Trace should be the favorite in the SVC. They lose big Wes Beam and his 15/11 every night, but returns everyone else who played significant minutes for them. They will be much deeper with a year of maturation and should have another great season.
Piketon loses their coach and 4 of their top 6. But, it appeared that Jeremy Farmer emerged as one of their go to guys late I the season and Wyatt Brewster had some big games. I don't think they will be a top team in the district, but another trip to the Convo isn't out of the question either.

I haven't seen the numbers but heard Waverly may drop to D3 next year. The Tigers will be improved next year provided the young guns work hard during the off season. Starters Heibel, Rinehart and Gilbert return for their senior year, leading a fine group of youngsters. A lot of potential with Hefner, Browne, Chapman, Henderson twins, and looking for a couple others to step up.
Re: D3 Southeast District 13-14
Going down to D3 might not be a good thing for Waverly. D2 is more top heavy right now and their D2 sectional is the weaker of the two, thus making it easier to get to the Convo.
If Waverly were D3, they couldn't play on its home floor for sectional and would be shipped to Jackson probably, which is a pretty tough sectional.
And as for going D3, Waverly is only 20 boys over the current D2 minimum number but I look for that minimum number to go down more as more of the small Christian schools open and join the OHSAA.
As for ZT, there are some transfer rumors on the other board.

bman- we've been hearing that rumor for a while now in the Chillicothe area. Wouldn't surprise me if it happens, but as an SVC fan, it would be disappointing to lose out on seeing his talent all the time.

LOL, no one from the SOC or SHL has chimed in and those are two of the better leagues in the SE district for D3.
Valley should be very, very good next year. Returning nearly everyone from a solid team and IMO, should be the best shot to get to the Schott from the region.

There are no world beaters in next year's group of SHAC teams. Eastern Brown should be pretty good again. They return nearly everyone, granted they do lose their best player to graduation. I expect Nathan Scott to take over the dominant scoring role left by the departure of Chase Lawson, I wouldn't be surprised to see him average well over 20ppg next year. Lynchburg Clay might end up being the popular pick to win the big division next season as they return the majority of their best players and have a good group of underclassmen making the transition to varsity. Peebles is a mystery this year, they return Beau Justice(who might end up being the best D3 SG in the district) but lose nearly everyone else to graduation. Our JV was the best in the league this season so i'm interested in seeing how some of those kids develop. I think they are two years away from having another really good team. There have been rumors floating around of the Indians being under the D4 line though so they might not end up being relevant for this thread. West Union should be improved from last year(their top 7 scorers return) but will probably still not finish far from the bottom in the league race. North Adams should be way down in regards to where they have been the last 10 seasons. They lose all but 1 of their top 6 or 7 players and their JV/8th grade teams from this year were not especially strong.danicalifornia wrote:LOL, no one from the SOC or SHL has chimed in and those are two of the better leagues in the SE district for D3.

Chillicothe went 8-16 and lost their best player and 2 other starters.EasternDspy wrote:D2 much stronger next yr- Athens, Warren, Chillicothe, McClain
McClain went 10-13 and lost 3 starters too.
Logan Elm, Unioto, Washington, Miami Trace will all be better than those two.

I agree completely. I was just tossing those two out. But, Warren and Athens should be very very good again next year.EasternDspy wrote:Still like D2 over D3

I'd rather come out of D2 Southeastern than D3 Jackson. Sure, there are tough teams to play once you get to the Convo, but I believe it'll be easier to get out of SE than Jackson if the number out remains at four. Now move Waverly to D3 Athens and I'd take that in a heartbeat.

SOC
Valley
Minford
Portsmouth West, I think the Senators finally make it to district play this year. Michael Davis leading the way along with Hafer inside.

Valley is going to be extremely close to being D4 next season. They were very close last count and this one will be even closer depending on the final cutoff.

Eastern Brown should be OK next year Scott should lead the team, Marcus Day showed good progress this year and should aver. 14PPG Prine boy started to pick up some good time. Stivers and Burns should pick up where they left off along with Pickerial along with a good JV team. Lynchburg should be a good team out of the SHAC also but will be with a new coach next year.

Re: D3 Southeast District 13-14
Portsmouth has 4 of its top 6 back for 2013-2014, and with the emergence of Kyre Allison late in the season, he will take over the role of Jayllen Carter as the Trojans' top scorer. If PHS can fill the 5 position adequately (5-6 kids vying for that spot), which right now is a big question mark, then there's no question in my mind that Portsmouth will be a contender for the regionals in 2013-2014. The Trojans will have a solid foursome to go with that 5 spot. PHS could put the quickest team in SE D3 on the floor next year.
As was mentioned earlier, Valley and Zane Trace are two teams that have most of their rosters back, and right now look to be the favorites for the regional. They should win their leagues convincingly.
I think SE D3 was down this year overall in terms of quality depth as it had in the past, and next year looks to be more of the same.
