Vinton County looks to continue their winning streak over the Meigs Mauraders tonight as they are riding a 24 game winning streak over their rivals from the river. To put that in perspective, the last time Meigs beat VC the current starting guard, Tristan Bartoe, was about 2 years old.Vc leads the all time series 53-23 which dates back to 1967-68. There were a few years prior to Meigs joining the TVC where the two teams didn't play. Vinton County is 22-14 @ Meigs overall and 13-1 @ Meigs under Coach Combs. In fact, the Vikings are a staggering 28-1vs Meigs since Coach Combs took over as head coach. Meigs has won the TVC championship 3 times in their history (the last in 1986-87) and have never won a TVC Ohio crown. VC has won 9 titles overall- 8 of which are TVC Ohio division titles. One last stat I will toss out there- Vinton County is 74-30 overall vs Meigs County teams (Meigs, Eastern, Southern)

Good luck to the Vikings tonight!

I would hope Vinton had a good record against Eastern and Southern

Congrats to Meigs. This is the second big streak that has been broken against VC this year. The other being Alexander.

Super Trooper, I was actually surprised that VC's record against southern and eastern was as good as it is to be honest. They were forced to play each other in a crossover game each year in the 90s early 2000s and during that time, VC basketball was terrible to put it nicely.

I wasn't around then so I really have no idea. You would just expect the size of the schools would give southern and eastern no chance really. But Meigs has had a very good year for their standards. This win was surprising but they have been competitive all year long

During my senior year, VC played at Eastern when they had the Cozart boy and they destroyed us lol Size is less important in basketball than a lot of other sports, especially for VC back in the 70s-90s. VC went 30 years between titles from 1974-04. Meigs has been playing better ball as of late and it looks as if they have a decent shot to get the 6 seed in the Logan sectional. Its possible if they could pull off the upset over Sheridan, they would meet up with Athens for a 3rd time this year. One thing is for sure, teams on a roll come tournament time are very dangerous, regardless of their record.

Meigs 67
VC 64

Isaiah English, after a missed free throw, took an outlet pass from Colton Lilly and dribbled down floor where he shot the ball off the dribble about half way between the volleyball spike line and the three point line. Nothing but net as the horn sounded.

I'm guessing that no one remembers the 2011 Marauders beating VC at home that year. Lol

If that's the case, then all of my original post is garbage and we should all overlook it! Lol That game must have slipped my mind!
Still, 23 out of 24 was nice.
