Who's getting 1000 points? Who to watch for....

Who is close to a thousand? What are some of the names that will be achieving this great accomplishment? List them here....I will start it.
I would think that in the TVC, Joey Burrow and Ibi Watson have to be close. Vinton County may have one, but he is two seasons away. I am unsure about Wellston, maybe Braydon Womeldorf? Nelsonville-York, maybe Colt Adams? Meigs, again I am not sure, maybe Ty Phelps? Alexander, Mason Chapman?
Come on peeps. Who do we need to watch for?

Beau Justice will probably pass 2000 this season.

It won't happen this year, but Portsmouth's junior guard Kyre Allison is on a pace to become the Trojans' all-time leading scorer, a spot that is currently held by Craig Tubbs (1976-1979) with 1,485 points.

Isn't Burrow a Senior to be? I seem to rember Big Blue battling him for 3 years, so I'd say he has eclipsed the 1,000 point mark already. Watson should hit that sometime very early in the year. I think Meigs will have one maybe two on their squad with Bartrum being a solid candidate, and I agree, Vinton has at least one who should see that milestone

I think Burrow is around 900 points. Burrow didn't start scoring a lot till the end of his freshmen year. Athens has only had 1 other 1000 point scorer in school history. Ibi will score 1000 next year at Pickerington

If Burrow plays this winter, he will almost definitely get over 1000. What's the all time Athens record?

The SVC has a few for this coming year.
Definites: Pierce Mowery (ZT), Wyatt Brewster (Piketon)
Very likely: Nick Corcoran (Unioto), Jonathan Thomas (Adena)
Outside shot: Clay Stratton (PV), Mason McCloy (PV), Elijah Shanks (Huntington)

I was told on Saturday, at our annual golf outing, that Joey Burrow has already eclipsed the 1000 point barrier. Maybe 93Dog can do some checking and find out. He has access to that kind of information.

Should the new number be about 1,100?
Assuming 80 career regular season and 6 tournament games.....you need 11.6 pts per game to get to a 1,000.....Now with 88 regular season games and 6 tournament you need 10.6 per game.
Still a great accomplishment of course. Jackson only has 4 in their history....have had more than that transfer lol

Just got the official word. Joey Burrow has 930 points. He is definitely on the 1000 point radar. Oh, by the way, there are only two other 1000 point scorers in Athens' long history; Ralph Nuzum and Steve Brunning

Ralph Nuzum only scored 992, I'd question your source Hawkeye, as Bruning is the only Bulldog to ever eclipse 1,000

My source was from someone who's on the current staff. I didn't know Ralph, nor did I see him play. What year did he graduate? However, I saw Brunning, up close and personal for we are contemporaries. I believe that we had graduated the same year, 1983.

Michael Hall is on pace to eclipse the 1000 PT mark for the Warren Warriors this season. Only Evan French and Dennis Ward have achieved this in Warrior history!
GO BIG BAD BLUE!

Ralph graduated in 1952 I believe, I know it was 30 seasons that he was the single season record holder. Ralph was also All-Ohio in Class A, scoring 420 points his senior season. My information comes from Tom Metters, so I will consider that close to the gossple.

Gothca Pol Pot. I am not so sure that Mr. Metters did not help write the actual gospels. Just sayin'

Most points is probably Roger Bentley. Didn't he average 30pts a game at Chauncey-Dover and 20pts at Athens? Do stats from The Plains and Chauncey-Dover count? I know most of those state appearances that are hanging in the gym are The Plains. Those three football state titles are Chauncey-Dover

I feel some kids are reaching this milestone because talent levels are down and they are getting varsity time has freshmen where as 20 to 30 years ago you seldom saw freshmen on the varsity.
