Burg and Fairland square off for the District Championship. This is a matchup from earlier this season at Fairland that Burg won 69-60.

Winner moves on to the Regionals to play Columbus Bishop Ready Wednesday 3-12 at the Convo at 8pm.

The one good thing about the winner gettin ready is they have been off for awhile

Who's been off for a while? Ready and Hartley just played Thursday night. Ready will be on normal rest while the winner here will be playing their 3 game in 6 days. I don't think that gives the Athens champion any sort of advantage.

As far as this game goes, I think Burg's style will wear Fairland down. I don't think either team is deep as Burg only played 6 kids in the first 30 minutes tonight and Fairland seemed to only go to their bench when the foul trouble hit or when Maddux got dinged. I still have no idea how Fairland had 4 kids with 4 fouls starting the final quarter tonight and didn't lose a single kid to fouls. Southeastern turned into a jump shooting team and let Fairland back in it. The Burg won't do that at all. The way more disciplined team will build a lead and keep it that way.

Burg 54
Fairland 47

I'll take Burg by 8-10. They've made the District final while avoiding arguably the 3 best teams in SE D3 - Valley, Portsmouth, South Point. And at least one of those teams are going home today! They have a great opportunity infront of them to make a serious run, anxious to see what they do with it.

GO SOC!!

I look for a real dog fight in this one. These two schools met twice in football and once already in bball so the kids know each other well.
Burg in a close one.

Pirates playing better with each game. Miller played well against Peake. Pirates will win this one.

C'mon burg...trip to Regionals right there for the taking. If there was any doubt as to Ater's ability to coach up a team, it should be gone now.*

Burg has had a couple of Seniors really step up there game in Dylan Miller and JD Widdig. Widdig has been shooting lights out and hit a couple of big threes in the Peake game Friday night.

Another Senior, Tyler Claxon is playing some tough defense right now and hit some nice jumpers in the lane.

Burg has the skill players to move on to the state. They play some of the best defense around and they pass the ball really well. They made at least 4 layups off of back picks in the lane against Peake.

Great job Pirates. Hard fought game. I just love
The officiating up here. One game they call nothing
And then this game they well over 40 fouls.
That crew was horrible. Uuj

Congrats to the Pirates on the huge win and good luck against Ready next Wednesday. Sounded like Dylan Miller took over again down the stretch and what a huge put back by Widdig. Great game by everyone.

Great game to watch both teams played extremely hard. Burg did deserve to win as they did but those refs were terrible. Terrible especially against fairland but really both ways. Very disappointing to see such a big game with such poor officiating. Congrats to burg and good luck the rest of the tourny!

Great job Pirates. Held on for a tough win. Struggled with free throws down the stretch and you can't do that against a scrappy team like Fairland.

Hats off to Tyler Claxon for taking Maddox out of his rhythm and causing him to shoot a little quicker then he wanted to.

Great job again by Seniors JD Widdig and Dylan Miller. Both played great in the 2nd half and basically took over.

Still don't understand why Fairland's coach left No 4 in the game in the 3rd qtr after he picked up his 4th foul
