Chesapeake ends GAHS cage season, 55-35
Host Chesapeake defeated Gallipolis Gallia Academy’s basketball team 55-35 in a non-league makeup game Thursday evening.
The defeat left GAHS with its seventh straight losing season (11-12). Meanwhile, Chesapeake improved its overall record to 14-7 It was the Panthers second win over the Blue Devils this season.
Chesapeake will face Ironton in a sectional tournament game Saturday at Jackson High School in the sectionals.
Thursday, it was all Chesapeake as the Panthers jumped out in front 16-4 after one period of action. CHS led 28-8 at halftime and 44-20 going into the final quarter.
Chesapeake defenders allowed no Blue to score in double figures. Wes Jarrell and Jacob Strieter led GAHS with six points apiece. Kole Carter and Isiah Franklin had five points each. Mike Putney had four points, Alex White three, Devin Henry three, Seth Atkins two and Wade Jarrell 1. The Panthers held Reid Eastman scoreless.
Gallipolis shot 28.2 percent (19 of 39) from the field. The Blue Devils were two of nine behind the arc (22.2 percent). At the line, GAHS was 11 of 19 for 57.8 percent.
Gallipolis picked off 25 rebounds led by Jacob Strieter and Wes Jarrell with six each. The Blue Devils had six assists and six steals. GAHS finished with four blocked shots, 15 turnovers and nine turnovers.
Playing their final high school basketball game were GAHS seniors Reid Eastman, Seth Atkins and Wade Jarrell.

They were scheduled, but the game had been postponed twice because of the weather.

Probably to get Gallia Academy's season over sooner than Later!!!

Gallipolis' last winning basketball season was seven years ago when GAHS went 13-9 overall and 4-9 in SEOAL play. GAHS has had eight straight losing seasons in SEOAL play.

I thought the Ironton/Chesapeake game was being played at Jackson HS? and its Saturday?
