Portsmouth co-champ after win over GAHS

Host Portsmouth handed Gallipolis Gallia Academy a 67-36 defeat Saturday night in a makeup Southeastern Ohio Athletic League basketball contest.
The Trojan victory left Portsmouth with a 16-4 season record, 7-1 SEOAL mark and a 2013-14 SEOAL co-championship with Warren Local. The Blue Devils dropped to 11-10 overall and 2-6 and a fourth place finish in the SEOAL standings.
Gallipolis will play Unioto on Tuesday in the 2013-14 Southeastern Sectional Tournament at Ross-Southeastern starting at 8 p.m.
Gallipolis trailed 17-8 after one period, 34-16 at halftime and 50-26 going into the final period.
Reid Eastman was the only Blue Devil in double figures in scoring with 17 points. Alex White added seven, Seth Atkins five, and Isiah Franklin four.
Portsmouth defenders held GAHS to 25.4 percent from the field (15 of 59). GAHS was four of 16 behind the arc (25.7 percent). At the foul line, GAHS was two for four for 50 percent.
GAHS picked off 42 rebounds, led by Wes Jarrell’s 13 snags. Jacob Strieter had eight rebounds .GAHS had 10 assists, led by Wes Jarrell’s three, two blocked shots, 17 turnovers and nine personal fouls.
Portsmouth won the reserve game, 58-41.

We missed way to many easy points. Couldn't finish at the bucket. Could have been a closer game. Congrats to Portsmouth.

Wow, the Blue Devils had 42 boards and still lost by 31?? :lol: :lol: Congrats to the Trojans!
