2014—Warren Local trounces GAHS, 92-54
Vincent Warren Local scored early and often Friday night to trounce Gallipolis Gallia Academy 92-54 in a Southeastern Ohio Athletic League contest in the Warrior Dome.
WHS jumped out in front 18-6 after one period. The Warriors led 49-18 at intermission and 72-37 going into the fourth quarter.
The victory left WLHS with a 10-3 season record. Inside the SEOAL, Warren improved to 4-1. Gallipolis dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-4 in SEOAL action.
Gallipolis was scheduled to play River Valley Saturday in a non-league game. Warren Local is scheduled to play a non-league game at West Muskingum Saturday.
Sophomore center Jacob Streiter led Gallia Academy’s attack with 18 points. Senior guard Reid Eastman finished with 11 markers. The Warriors held Wes Jarrell to five points. GAHS played without the services of Senior forward Seth Atkins, who is recovering from a concussion in the Ironton game last Tuesday.
Gallipolis made 23 of 47 field goal attempts for 48.9 percent. The Gallians were 18 of 37 on two-point goals and 5 of 10 behind the arc. At the foul line, GAHS sank three of 11 for 27.2 percent.
GAHS had 24 rebounds, led by Alex White’s seven. Wes Jarrell grabbed six rebounds. GAHS had 14 assists, five by Kole Carter, 24 turnovers and nine personal fouls.
Warren Local placed four players in double figures in scoring, led by Evan French's 26 points and six rebounds. Reece Patten added 22 points and six rebounds, Blake Kidder 14 points and five rebounds, Michael Hall 12 points and six rebounds. Henthorne had eight assists for the winners.
Warren Local sank 37 of 76 shots for 49 percent. The Warriors were nine of 23 behind the arc for 39 percent. Warren picked off 38 rebounds (20 offensive) and had just 11 turnovers.
