Valley won by 7 early in the season at Burg with Burg only having a few practices, no scrimmages, and 1 game behind them with Coach Ater. Burg started the season 1-3, but has rolled off 5 wins in a row since then including a good wins vs. Oak Hill and @Fairland. Burg also beat West this week by 18 after losing their season opener @West. Valley is still the BIG favorite in this one, but I think it will be closer than some expect. Burg (like most teams other than Minford) does not have the size inside to handle Dunn and West, but will play strong defense and hit the boards hard. D.Miller and E.Miller have been playing better each game. Widdig is a big threat if left alone for a second and Spradlin has been playing very good coming off the bench.

You start off your post giving credit to Wheelersburg and discuss their big wins. Then, you drastically try to undermine them by saying Valley is a BIG favorite. Look, anyone with a brain knows this game is going to be close. Oak Hill only lost to Valley by a few points AT Valley. Burg has beaten Oak Hill. Who in the world would say Valley by ALOT here? Burg is clearly one of the top 3 teams in the league and very well could beat Minford or Valley on any given night.. And doing so really wouldn't be that much of an "upset."

Wheelersburg has a lot of talent. The extreme majority of the kids were receiving a load of playing time last year when they went .500. This WILL be a close game and I would not be surprised at all if Wheelersburg won it.

After seeing how Valley step it up big time against a very very good Athens team even though they lost but took them into double ot Valley can open this game up by 20-25 if that same Valley team shows up.

That is a possible outcome, but rivalry/conference games have a different kind of emotion that really changes the game. Also, these kids have been playing against eachother for many years and know what their opponents want and like to do....that familiarity changes the game too.

Burg vs valley enough said, valley wins every time.

... excellent high school basketball game between hardnosed ball clubs ... Valley made their FTs down the stretch in that last minute & a half of play ... Wheelersburg has a solid basketball team ... totally enjoyed the broadcast !!!

Good game by both sides. I am not surprised by the score. Wheelersburg's best chance to win was to keep it a low scoring game. They able to do that and just about pulled off the upset. Best of luck to both squad as they prepare for the tournament.
