Interesting things 1. The fact that 1 and 2 can be on the same side this season . 2. The top 4 teams can pass. With no byes in D3 if your 1 and 2 you should just pass and let 3 and 4 seed themselves so you can pick your own path. 3. Instead of voting at the meeting like in the past it's all online voting. Meaning maybe coaches will actually vote the teams by who is the best instead of sticking with a buddy system.

Re: Eastern District "Super Sectionals "
I think you can pass as much as you want if your top 4. Like if 1 passes and then 2 picks a spot then it's 1s turn agin then they can pass again and so on. Very interesting if you ask me anything can happen. For more on the process go to eastohsaa.org.

Re: Eastern District "Super Sectionals "
Another thing to think about is will teams just choose the sectional site that is closer for travel or with they take the page the coaches think will help them advance farther? Plus now teams have 15 teams to scout instead of just 6 or 7.

Re: Eastern District "Super Sectionals "
Malvern is not typical Malvern this year. T.C.C. beat them and S.C.C. head to head. You will still see coaches stick together in this based on league affiliation. I'd imagine the seeding if it were done today would look like this:EasternDspy wrote:D4 as of 1/12- 1. Hiland 2. Malvern 3.Steubeville Central 4. Caldwell 5. Tusky Central 6. Shadyside 7. Frontier 8. The good thing is it won't matter because you go on where you want to go on. As long as you are in the 2-9 range you should be able to duck Hiland until district time. Will still be interesting to see how it works out.

Re: Eastern District "Super Sectionals "
It should make for one stacked side and some great games of teams ducking Hiland. In my opinion I would take the sectional under Hiland because that's 2 guaranteed wins and does it really matter if you play Hiland in District Semi or District Final?

#3. Says above voting can be done either on line or at seeding meeting. So buddy system could still be in play.EasternDspy wrote:Interesting things 1. Only 15 teams in D4. Bracket shows 8 @ New Philadelphia and 7 @ Union Local. East Richland is not listed on Eastern District site.EasternDspy wrote:D4 as of 1/12- 1. Hiland 2. This makes it interesting with the bye being at UL

Yea but if you go Eastohsaa.org they are promoting online voting even dates and times of when you have your votes in.
Re: Eastern District "Super Sectionals "
EDspy I give you a lot of credit for putting this all together. Lot of work and interesting stuff. It's still a month away, but I like to see how it plays out.
I'll always remember the time back in the early 80's when the Waterford AD was in charge of a Sectional @ River and screwed it up...
Some how, some way, he messed up the draw when it was held over at the Court Restaurant in New Martinsville WV.
I think it was a 6-team Class A sectional.

I just have a thing for brackets and competition it's interesting. It could go many different ways I can not see Fort Frye wanting to go to Claymont. The last 3 yrs Martins Ferrys coach has picked to play Fort Frye in the tourney all 3 games 1 possession with Ferry having a 2-1 record. I know Ferry is 4-6 but they give the Cadets matchup problems with Vargo (6-6) and Aponolli (6-8). I figure they will play again.

True, but that in no way means coaches will do it that way or would even take the time to check into it.EasternDspy wrote:Yea but if you go Eastohsaa.org they are promoting online voting even dates and times of when you have your votes in.

Re: Eastern District "Super Sectionals "
To clarify....according to the information I received last week, the eastern district voting process is 100% online. The window to submit records opens February 2nd and closes February 5th. Voting runs from the 6th through the 8th @ noon. The Sunday February 9th coaches meeting is simply to put teams on the bracket and get site information. If you do not vote but go to the meeting your team will be seeded based on the votes you received but there will be penalty. It is a points based voting system, you can not vote for your own team. You vote for the other 15 teams. Your highest and lowest received seeds are dropped and the rest make up you point total to determine seeding. If you do not vote online your team also loses their second highest score. If you do not attend the seed meeting your team will be placed on the bracket last.
It's an interesting system that seems to be pretty well thought out. I wish they would extend it through that Saturday night though, there are a lot of games on the 8th that could impact records and seeding that won't be considered with the noon cut off. Overall, I like it. My two cents.

Thank you, very good information. I've only been going off the guidelines on the East District site and have not talked to people who probably received the same info you did. Sounds like a very interesting process and I'm sure it will get even more interesting at the draw when teams start deciding where they want to go.
Good Luck Coach

Re: Eastern District "Super Sectionals "
So much speculation over next 3 weeks. I think it is a more fair way then the old format. I think all districts should do it this way.
