2014 SE DII District Champion!

No matter who ends up winning the SE DII District they will represent our area well in regional competition. Warren and Athens may be the favorites to meet in that game but both would have to survive a gauntlet of EXECELLENT teams to get there. Logan Elm, Miami Trace , Minford, Unioto and Vinton County are all very capable of claiming a District title. The regular season and seeding will be huge in determining who claims the crown. Sectional championships will be huge. Not many easy games anywhere. As a basketball fan I can hardley wait

Only two out of Logan makes that Jan 21st Athens/Warren game even bigger (if that's possible) ... If the chips fall the way I think, the No. 2 seed would have to play (3) Logan Elm just to get to the Convo.

Is there a chance LE will return to the Southeasten sectional? In either case that still leaves Vinton County. Again ups the ante in those Athens/Vinton TVC games. Wow!

That sectional at Southeastern will be even more a bloodbath. Can hardly wait!!!

They'll have to move one team to the SE sectional to balance each sectional at 9 teams. Of late, LE has been that floater school back and forth between Logan and SE.

93Dog will not be purchasing anything ... he will be sitting quietly, peacefully, as WarriorBlue orders up (and pays) for a nice afternoon lunch at BW3's in between games at the Convo ...

I sincerely appreciate it WarriorBlue, I always respect a man who pays up!

The main reason LE moved the last time was because their AD was head of the Southeast District Board and wanted to make sure they could avoid Greenfield (Dante Jackson) in the sectional. If the board actually follows their own policy it should be either Vinton County (next closest school to SE) or Gallia Academy (16 miles closer to SE than they are Logan) It will be interesting to see if the board actually follows the rules that they themselves put in place.

I don't know the politics, but the choice made sense between the two closest schools to Logan. The last time they needed someone to move from SE to Logan, LE was the closest of the schools considered, with the next closest being Jackson. It's easier for Jackson to go up 35 to 50 (24.3 miles) then have to make the ride up 93 (44.71 miles).

LE is also closer to SE than Logan.

LE is 25.93 miles to SE and 33.18 miles to Logan. VC is 24.4 miles to SE and 23.6 miles to Logan.

Since Gallia Academy will move to the Southeastern sectional that leaves 5 pretty good teams to fight it out for those 2 gold tickets to the District tourney at the Convo. Warren and Athens will be the favorites but Logan Elm, Vinton Co and Sherdian will not go quietly into the night without putting up a huge fight. Good chance we will see a rematch of a quality regular season game. Athens plays Warren, Logan Elm and Vinton Co 2x. The schedules that Warren and Athens have will no doubt toughen them up for a tourney run but beating a non league opponent twice or a league opponent three times in a single season is a tall order. Going to be some great basketball this year in the SE District DII

Just to get to the Convo will be a brawl. The top 3 teams in PFloyd's Elite 8 (Warren, Athens and Logan Elm) are all in the Logan Sectional and 3 more ( Miami Trace, Minford and Unioto)? are at the Southeastern sectional. That's 6 quality teams and one district championship winner. Lots of talent as well as good coaching. A basketball fans dream. March Madness on display in SE Ohio.
Make no mistake Warren and Athens may be favorites but any of the afore mentioned teams along with Vinton County can claim the DII SE District crown.
