Why would the private side be upset about this?

They would not, but if it was 3-1 Private schools, the public schools fan as usual would be crying as they always do.

Exactly. Happens after every state championship game on all forums.
Amazing coming from someone not associated with any school, especially not a private school.

Seven of the 16 teams were private schools in the Final Four. Some of the private schools had home grown kids (I don't have a problem with these) but there were some magnet schools there, as well. Also a few publics who had no business playing in the divisions they were in (Eastmoor in D3 as an example). Slap a one division elevation penalty to magnet schools, both public and private, and be done with it, and stop big city districts from sending a team that can draw from an entire city to the smallest division (Africentric is an example of this). I'd say if you are a Columbus, Cincy or Cleveland public, as an example, you can't play lower than D2.

I think this is the info everyone is looking for, I am not 100% sure which schools are private or public but if you scroll down to the bottom of this link it shows the total state titles as well as most titles in one sport. I am a firm believer that private schools should have their own division or two divisions based on the district size form which you get your players/students. Having the ability to draw players from an area the size of Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland is a great advantage over the smaller private school districts like Newark, Zanesville, etc. And the D IV communities and towns are even smaller! With populations of 1500 and less. True small schools do NOT have the ability to draw from a large area thus their disadvantage.

Here is another article about this issue, this quote from the article pretty much sums things up.
http://www.the-daily-record.com/local%2 ... plit-apart
"Private schools make up only (18 percent) of the total number of OHSAA schools, but they regularly win about 50 percent of the state championships," Beatty said. "That's just not fair. We definitely tried to work with the OHSAA on this, and we were close to passing both referendums.

lol OHSAA will lose WAY too much money, will never happen. You dont get much from 14 parents, 100 students and 4 nuns and a priest at the tourney games.

That's because they are not as emotionally invested as the Public school teams who have true communities and kids who have grown up playing with one another.

I always wondered why there arent more divisions basketball than just 4, can anyone give a good reason, in our area in D4 there can be a big difference in D4 school size to me the difference between 25-40 boys or girls compared to 100-110 is a much bigger difference than a school with 500-600 compared to a school with 800-1000. Also if the tournaments were speretated public/private would there be different divisions in the private side like public? Thanks in advance for answers.

UKPROF, I guess you have never been to a Moeller vs Elder football playoff game. You all are right though something needs to be done, Ironton St. Joe and Portsmouth Notre Dame and many more schools like them are running out of room in their trophy cases with all the Championship trophies
