Warren Warriors get a good victory against Whitehall at Marietta College. Game was a low scoring affair through 3 quarters. Warren played zone to try and counter Whitehall's quickness and force them to make outside shots. Strategy worked for a long time and Warren led 31-24 at end of 3. In the fourth, Whitehall started hitting 3's (making at least 4 in the period) and actually took a late one point lead with around 2 minutes remaining. Warren hit a 3 and then a 2 to go up 4. Whitehall got it back to one with a 3 pter themselves. Warren was able to hit a free throw providing a 2 point cushion. Whitehall then got fouled with just under a second remaining while trying to put in a missed shot. First free throw was good getting them to within one. After a Warren timeout, second free throw missed and Warren notched the victory. Warren was led by Seth Dennis with 15 points and 6 steals; Noah Nichols with 14 pts and 6 boards; Austin Barta with 6 pts and 6 boards; Clay Miller 6 pts, 5 boards, and 3 assists; Bryce Knost with 4 points and a huge put back basket to end the first half; and Brandon Simoniette with 3 points. Whitehall used their pressure defense all evening in a variety of full court man to man, trapping half court zone, run and jump etc. For the most part, Warren did a good job handling the pressure and played a very solid game.

Looking at the box scores for Whitehall at the Marietta College Classic, I see Roshean Bagley not listed as scoring in either game. He is Whitehall's best player so I wondered if he did not play or was held scoreless both games. Holding him scoreless for 2 games would be surprising. Also they have a guy last name Blacksheer and do not see him listed as scoring. He also is usually a point scorer for Whitehall. Anybody at those game have any information?

What’s going on with the Merritt boy from Warren? Is he injured? Haven’t heard much about him so far this season.

When I 1st saw him play I said to myself “Michael warren” all over again. Guess we won’t know. Not sure what happened, but seems a shame to waste God given talent like that.

Meant to say Michal Hall of Warren.
