The Hornets of Coal Grove make the long trip to Ironton to take on the Fighting Tigers, thoughts?

Sounds like this could be a Defensive battle, Irontons D has turned it up a notch.

Have seen Coal Grove 4 times and they are 4-0, while I've seen Ironton twice and they are 0-2. The Hornets probably want me to show up, while the Tigers want me to stay away.

Something tells me I will be seeing TrojanDave in his usual seat along the front row of the Conley Center.....pfloyd wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 6:17 pm^ LOL !!!SportsGirl83 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 4:59 pmDon't be latetrojandave wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:59 am Would be very surprised if this game were decided by more than 5-6 points. After having a 14pt lead ( 37-23 ) over Minford at half today, and being outscored ( 33-16 ) in the 2nd half by Minford, I'm just having a hard time thinking this is the same team that beat Oak hill a few days ago. With Ironton being pretty good, I would have picked the Tigers over the Grove at Ironton anyway. I guess this just shows again, that's why they play the game. Also it is probably one of the best wins that Minford has had in awhile, and might just give them enough confidence to help them salvage the rest of there season.
I know that Jaylen McKenzie was one of the big reasons that they were able to create so many turnovers a few days ago against Oak Hill. Didn't realizejoshwheeler wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:04 pm The Hornets have been without starting PG Jaylen McKenzie the past 2 games. They really rely on being able to create turnovers and getting transition buckets, Mckenzie is a huge part of that on the defensive side. He’s been missed, but looks like there’s an outside chance he plays Tuesday. If the Hornets get their offense via defense game going, it’ll make the Ironton D a moot point.
McKenzie coming back will also assist with facilitation and allow the other guys to move and create like they usually do. Too many weapons if they all play for any 1 defense in SEO to shut down. The only way they lose is if shots don’t fall.
There’s a budding rivalry between these 2. I see the game being tight with the Hornets depth allowing them to break it open by 5-10 towards the end of the game.
The game will be on Facebook.com/coalgrovelive if you’re looking to catch it but can’t make the trip.
I don’t believe he started but the player your speaking of played most of the game Saturday vs Minfordjoshwheeler wrote: ↑Sat Jan 12, 2019 11:04 pm The Hornets have been without starting PG Jaylen McKenzie the past 2 games. We'll be seeing you soon enough (Friday) at Portsmouth, if the weather holds up, that is.trojandave wrote: ↑Mon Jan 14, 2019 4:52 pm Flyers58: I would like to see this one, but my Trojans are playing at home vs. Gallia Academy. The Trojans always come first.
