Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
Just based on the “eye test,” I think Waverly wins.
However, the eye test doesn’t guard people as hard as McClain does. McClain does a nice job of handling the ball and a great job of defending. This game could be extremely low scoring.
I think I’ll take Waverly still, but it will be a total battle. The offensive glass could be the difference.

Whoever wins this game wins by less than 5. Could see it going either way

McClain doesn’t have the horses to stay with Waverly
Waverly 61
McClain 48
Remington-Robertson-Marquez potentially could outscored McClain. I’ll guess those 3 total 40+ points

Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
Idk about those 3 totaling for 40+ points. Sounds like McClain has some tough guard play and that would be difficult for Waverly to do. I do believe tho, in order for Waverly to win one of those 3 guards mentioned needs to have 15+ with the second guard coming in around 10. Also, need a 10+ point game from either Wolf or Dunn. I just don't think all three Waverly guards will be able to score that much combined. Although Waverly is a score by committee kind of team, they don't have one guy who can go out and give you 20 a night regularly. Which I think is what makes them dangerous due to the fact anyone can have a big night. But also is a down fall because they don't have that reliable go to scorer.Ed Ott wrote: Mon Feb 18, 2019 10:28 pm McClain doesn’t have the horses to stay with Waverly

Interesting matchup. I think Waverly is playing a little better.
Mischal and Wolfe should definitely guard each other. Remington and Penwell.
McClain has to keep Remington/Marquez from getting into the lane. If they do, they can win, if they don’t Waverly could win by double digits.

Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
If this game is not close late, or McClain doesn’t hold Waverly to less points than usual and the final isn’t 50-47 or 46-45 then I’m crazy. Or just stupid.
It could be both.
I will save you all the time. I know it’s probably both
No clue who wins.

Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
I was really impressed by Waverly against Jackson and Oak Hill the second time, everyone seemed to know their role and could all score within that role, they seem to be playing their best ball at the right time so I’m going with Waverly by 7
Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
This game will be all about one thing- tempo. If Waverly can make it a track meet- frenetic paced with a lot of possessions- they may win big. If it's a meat grinder of a game- give the advantage to the Tigers....oh wait... the McClain Tigers.
Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
Should be a very good ballgame. Easton Wolfe has really impressed me in the 3 or 4 games that I have seen Waverly play. I think he will be the X factor in this game.

Yes, Easton has stepped up his game the past month. Playing really good basketball.VetteMan wrote: Tue Feb 19, 2019 11:50 pm Should be a very good ballgame. Easton Wolfe has really impressed me in the 3 or 4 games that I have seen Waverly play. I think he will be the X factor in this game.

I think Waverly pulls away late in this1.Smallwood will be difficult to handle for McClain. 66-49
In youth we learn. In age we understand.
Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
Following Waverly from afar, no possible outcome of the game would be surprising. The game appears to have the most evenly matched teams of all the sectional games in SEO.

He might be, but Devin Carter for McClain dominated the Zane Trace bigs. He also averaging 17 ppg, so he’s a guy that has to be shutdown by Waverly.B-ball-fan wrote: Wed Feb 20, 2019 12:15 am I think Waverly pulls away late in this1.Smallwood will be difficult to handle for McClain. 66-49

Re: #5 Waverly vs #4 Greenfield McClain 2/22
As stated, contrasting styles in this one. If McClain is capable of slowing the pace, this one will come down to the wire. Waverly needs to be themselves and pressure McClain for 32mins. I still don't know who to pick but, right now, I'll say Waverly wins by 2.
