Those are nice! If someone could get a picture of the actual uniforms on game day that would be awesome.

The Moses's were my neighbors and played LL baseball with Tom and Rob. Roy helped my dad coach a couple years.

It is a shame it was torn down. In junior high we (Southwestern) played Waterloo. Got to play in that gym twice, 73-75.

Being an avid historian of Portsmouth Trojans basketball, I think it's great that the Waterloo Wonders will be honored and not forgotten. They have a special place in the lore of SE district basketball and their legend should never be allowed to fade into oblivion.
Sad that the gym has been long gone........Portsmouth's old Grant Gym is gone also, which was where the 1961 state champion Trojans played their home games. Grant Gym's last year was the 1963-1964 season.

I remember playing in Grant gym when I was in middle school mid 80's. What year was it tore down. I was trying to think how many feeder schools there was for Portsmouth highschool.

Mr. Moses had an undefeated 8th grade bb team one year. He also taught physics...explaning centrifugal force by spinning a basketball on his fingers. His oldest son, Steve..aka "Big Fig" calls N. Carolina home.
I think we might have more things in common, Raiderball.

BigBlueNation: I believe Grant Gym was torn down in the early 2000's to make room for the Elementary School. I used to be a substitute teacher at Grant in the early 80's. That gym just had a nostalgic look to it.......made you feel like you were back in the 50's. I wish I had seen the Trojans play there. I know people who told me of stories about the students sitting on the stage and shaking the basketball standard.

Always hated Green. Never had much for them. School is practically in Kentucky and we need to get them out of the OHSAA

Franklin Furnace is located on the narrowest portion of the river. Get your facts straight! Practically a creek there!
