SE Panthers vs VC Vikings

Tonight in the Larry Jordan Gymnasium, the Southeastern Panthers defeated the Vinton County Vikings.
Congratulations to Coach Mike Adam's and his Panther squad for a huge program win over Coach Combs and the Vikings.
I believe the final was 56-50. Back and forth all game, both teams playing hard, but tonight was all about the Panthers persevering in front a loud and enthusiastic home crowd.
Not sure many saw this one coming.

Really good win for SE! They’ve competed well in their first two games and got the W last night. As good as a win as this is for them it also leaves the question of what is going on with VC? Two losses to begin the year against teams thought to be not as good. Injuries, key players out, any info from Vinton that puts some light on the subject.

I’m quite surprised by both VC outcomes this year. I would’ve guessed double digit wins in both. Credit to the other teams though…it’s a new year for everyone.

VC had all expected starters last night. Dameron, Radabaugh, Davidson, Allman, who was the SE transfer. Combs said on radio 94.3 afterwards his team played without emotion and not fundamentally sound. On the flip side SE had several seniors quit and not come back, had one starter transfer, to VC. And they played with heart for 4 quarters. Again, huge win for that program and Coach Adams.
Love seeing two old SVC foes in Coach Adams and Coach Combs battle on the hardwood like it was late 80's early 90's again.

Great early season win for the Panthers. As for Vinton, they had 2 kids around 6’4- 6’5” who probably didn’t touch the ball more than a handful of times in the post . They shot a lot of threes. Maybe that’s their game but it wasn’t working last night. Southeastern made some key buckets at crucial times and really just out worked the Vikings. Congrats on the W.

Sounds like VC- Live and die by the 3. If they have any size Combs won't use it. A few years back he had a couple big kids 6 7 and 6 8 never used them. The 3 works when they go in--but you have to have a plan "B" if they are not falling.

They were terrible with those big kids, only winning back to back district titles
