... LOTS of changes from the Preseason rankings to the opening week and a half!!! ... after last weeks 3 days of action I went through the Preseason rankings and did an initial adjustment in anticipation of this weeks FULL WEEK of games ... the rankings I'll post tomorrow are the result of adjustments to this "intermediate" ranking from last weekend ... the preseason rankings were a starting point based on what I knew in October ... since the scrimmage season we have found out who the transfers are, which players decided to NOT go out for basketball this season, players who are still "out" due to injuries from football and soccer ... the committee has put together the first regular rankings - going to sleep on them - see if they make sense based on what we know now after the opening week and a half ...

* With Fairland losing on the road at North Adams we have a new #1
* 2 new teams have moved into the Elite 8
* big movers include - South Point, Fairfield Leesburg, Whiteoak, Eastern Pike, Marietta, the Burg, Chilli
* 6 teams have yet to officially tip off the hoops season holding at 0-0

... over the past 24 years of doing the Elite Rankings (first as a response to 93bulldog's Elite 8 rankings - yes the 93bulldog actually started the SEO rankings over on jjhuddle back in the day) ... I always had the disclaimer if records were incorrect that I was "old" - NOW! I AM OLD!!! closer to 70 than 60 , the eyes aren't as good as they used to be, they can't make a computer screen big enough it seems to make it easier for my old person eyes to see the numbers anymore LOL ... please let me know if records are incorrect, I will edit to make it right ...

... the first few weeks are always the most volatile - the movement up and down the rankings ... this first "public" ranking has some schools looking like they made giant leaps - it is only after they had already made an initial move over this past weekend when I did the first rankings/ not made public due to having too few teams having played ... I based this week's public ranking using this past weekends "non-public" ranking as the starting point for teams (which were more realistic based on the now KNOWN transfers/players not playing/influx of JV players, etc.) ...

... at any rate - let the beatings begin!!! ... personally the committee feels good about this weeks rankings! - teams have the opportunities to play themselves up and down the rankings based on what they do on the hardwood ...

... between having "eyes on" live and video I have been able to see 40 of the 71 teams so far ... many multiple times via video ... it seems like a second job LOL ... but one that is totally enjoyable from late November through March ...

... a question for the masses - is New Hope Christian school in the post season, considered a SE District school ?, in a league in SEO? ... trying to figure out if they should be ranked? ... I don't think so BUT I've been wrong before ...

I moved North Adams up to their current position but couldn't justify leaping NA over the teams in front of them or drop Fairland THAT far down the list to be below NA ... it will be a good W for NA for the upcoming rankings in the future ... I already see a BIGGER mistake - I'm missing New Lex for the rankings totally!!!

My apologies to the New Lexington TEAM & coaching staff for the initial omit ... an excellent start for the Panthers in the 2022-23 season, breaking into the rankings sitting higher than they have ever been since I have been doing the rankings ... a good win over Warren at New Lex has them sitting with a star , NL will be taking on Sheridan this week and a good Morgan team on the 13th - this will tell more as to where NL stands ...

... this will be the last time I put a time as to a "TIME" the rankings will be posted - in giving a time, I didn't do my job and triple check to see that everything was right in the rankings world, hence leaving out New Lexington, then having to back track ... won't happen again ...

Looks about right to me, always tough to predict teams this early in the season. Some big tests for Warren in the next two weeks with Linsly, FCA, and Fairland looming.

Logan Elm, who is severely undermanned without Holbert right now. Westfall also beat winless Adena by a point in OT.

I don’t agree with the massive jump by Chillicothe. They are not very good and only beat a below average Hamilton Township team.

Chillicothe has some athletes, but as soon as WCH went zone, that game turned into a blowout. Galloway did play very well though.

... it's a "next team up" situation LOL ... Falcons fit the bill ! return all 5 starters, varsity experience, size, length, experienced PG ... I've got my pick of FU games to attend as we get a couple more weeks into December - 12/16 vs LE, 12/28 vs Gallia Academy, 12/30 vs Sheridan, 1/3 vs Alexander, 1/7 @ Bloom Carroll, 1/11 @ Logan ... ALL of these are outstanding game challenges for FU! and great games to watch from the Cheap Seats ... I couldn't go wrong going to any or all of these LOL as GAHS,Sheridan, LE, Alexander are all in the top 16 team in my rankings, BC - Coach Davis's first season at BC coming to the Bulldogs from Chesapeake ... you're right Smeltzy - a big time stretch for FU ...
