I think Portsmouth is probably the favorite...it'll be fun to watch though with the full expansion in place now...

Chesapeake has Rhodes back, and Coach Davis will have Peake ready.
Portsmouth has Allison back, and Coach Collins made a great addition to the bench in Coach Jay Lucas after his run with Coal Grove
Coal Grove enters the Vanderhoof era, with lots of talent back, but still need to identify the "go to guy"
Fairland is young, lots of young talent. Coach Speed will have a lot to work with.
Ironton adds Travis Carey after losing a lot of production.
Rock Hill, and South Point both need a lot of work.
Gallia I have no idea about them to comment

I think that Portsmouth will definitely be in the running for the OVC title, but it will not be an easy ride as the conference should be very strong at the top. Fairland and Chesapeake along with the Trojans should be the favorites for the conference title. Not only does PHS have Kyre Allison back, but 6-3 junior Kendall Reynolds is back as well. Reynolds led Portsmouth in the 2015 tournament with 89 points in 5 games, as the Trojans finished in the regional finals. This also will be senior guard Ethan Leonard's 2nd year of starting varsity. Leonard shot 52% from 3 point land and 92% from the FT line. The biggest obstacle to overcome for the Trojans will be a lack of size, with Reynolds being the tallest varsity player.
The OVC had 4 teams advance to the district semifinals last season, with 3 advancing to the district finals, 2 to the regional semifinals, and 1 to the regional finals.

Peake and Portsmouth are my early picks with Fairland right behind them.

The OVC is the best basketball conference in southern Ohio after adding Portsmouth and Ironton. The winner(s) will more than likely have at least 2 losses

I'm going to say either Portsmouth, Chesapeake or Fairland (or all three). I can see Coal Grove and Ironton being the x-factors, having a thing to say about the outcome of the league.

Will the Lucas kid from Coal Grove start for the Trojans?

I would say Lucas has a good chance to start. The Trojans essentially will start 5 guards, with Kendall Reynolds (6-3) and Kyre Allison (6-2) being our "bigs". Allison will play PG, but Lucas can step into that role also.

Did the Large kid move to Ironton?

Large is now in Ironton along with an already strong group of freshmen who won the OVC both years in junior high. He joins T. Wilson, R. Bryant, E. Wilson, K. Adkins and Tye Gunther along with other good athletes in this freshman group. This top 4/6 will have a good chance of playing some good minutes this season for the Varsity. With the athletes Ironton has back from last season, it could be a good year for the Tigers!!
