D 3 Regional

Why aren't teams in the Southeast given the option of choosing between the Central Regional and the Southeast Regional? It would only seem fair that these teams have an option as do the Central district teams when they choose to go on a bracket. Africentric has chosen the Central District that feeds into Athens the last 2 years, so why wouldn't the SE have the same option? (Guess this is the Super Regional idea).

There is no Central Regional. There are two D3 Central Districts, one of which goes to the Athens Regional and one of which goes to Kettering Regional.
So in that regard I'm not sure what you're presenting here. The top Columbus seed can determine which regional bracket they fall into, similar to how in SE D4 the top overall seed can determine if they want the East winner or Columbus winner.
The top Columbus seed is ALWAYS going to pick the SE Regional bracket as it is almost always a way easier path than the Southwest Regional.
There are no other "Regionals" for the Southeast winners to choose. The 16 districts in D3 are: Northeast x5, Northwest x3, Southwest x3, Southeast x2, Central x2, East x1....... How would you propose splitting up the Regionals any differently?

I suppose the East district champions being assigned to the northeast regional, with the westernmost of the NE districts going to the northwest regional and the southernmost of the NW districts to the southwest regional could work better. That way you get the two Central teams coming to the Convo!
The above idea doesn’t quite work for hoops, though, because the NE District has five regional representatives for this tournament and only one of them pairs toward a reasonable geographic match with the NW (instead of two.)

That's kind of my thoughts too. The only other scenario would be BOTH Central winners coming to the Athens Regional...... not sure the SE District teams want that to happen.

With there now being a Central District vs Central District regional final game scheduled for the Convo, it could be that we’ll see a gradual elimination of the “two different regionals” option for Central District teams moving forward.
One wildcard, although this would probably be 10-15 years down the line if it happened, would be if the East District just dissolves and the Central, Northeast and Southeast takes in the schools.

That will never happen in the east district,to many schools, Wellsville baled out of the east district, because they couldn't complete and went to northeast, then Waterford at one time was in the east district, and opted for the south east, bishop Rosecrans has tried opt for central district, but the ohsaa said no

The 4 Bracket District Winners in each of the 4 Regions are placed on the Regional bracket in a blind draw.
If there are 2 District Champions in the Southeast, the overall #1 seed is allowed to choose which spot their bracket winner will take in the Regionals.

Thanks for the correction bbjunky (with no central regional). I would like for teams in the SE and E districts to have some choices as do the Central teams.

How convenient that Africentric is now in the Athens regional and Harvest Prep is in the Kettering regional if I read the brackets right. Can't meet until the state tourney.
OHSAA still catering to the private schools who bring about 50 fans to the games. Total BS still!!!
