" ... The Inaugural Battle in the 740 includes four of Pfloyds Elite Eight in Unioto, South Point, North Adams and Minford along with South Webster, Fairland and Wheelersburg from the next 15 teams. Federal Hocking who was a Regional Qualifier last season and Valley and Belpre make up the other teams from the 740. They will match up with Columbus area teams Bishop Hartley, New Albany, Olentangy Liberty and Harvest Prep who will travel to Portsmouth expecting big things from their team. Huntington Highlanders and Ashland Paul Blazer will make the trip across the Ohio River coming off of awesome seasons when they competed and placed in the Final Four in the West Virginia and Kentucky State Championships and are gearing up to return this season ... 2 good looking days! Huntington (WV) is absolutely loaded with talent! They’re worth a watch alone. Ashland (KY) returns a legit squad led by 6’6” SG Zander Carter (Jr) who has already committed to D1 Liberty.

pfloyd will be in the cheap seats for sure for the Sunday menu of games - looking forward to that Fairland vs Unioto matchup in the finale ...

Haven't seen Zander for awhile, didn't realize he's that big now.

Please note the schedule should read that on December 9 @ 5pm Olentangy Liberty plays Huntington Highlanders and @ 6:30pm Minford plays New Albany.

Will will try to provide provide information on teams outside of Southern Ohio that does not have information on them on SEOPS that will compete in the Battle in the 740 at Shawnee State University.
The Huntington High Highlanders advanced to the State semi finals in West Virginia last season before bowing out of the tournament and is looking to take the next step up in the tournament this season. They have a new coach, Lambros Svingos, who brings a wealth of experience and a strong connection to the school. They will be lead this year by Mikey Johnson, Malki McNeely and Jayden Clark who is a transfer from St Albans High School. All are seniors and expect to have productive seasons. They will play Olentangy Liberty who is a large Division 1 school from the Central Ohio area and they will also bring a quality team to the Battle in the 740 on Saturday December 9 @ 5pm at Shawnee State University.

The Wheelersburg Pirates finished 18-7 last season in Coach Prater's first season at the helm. The Pirates
finished second in the larger division of the Southern Ohio Conference and lost in the District Semi-Finals.
Last year's team graduated 5 impactful seniors including their leading scorers This year's team returns 4 rotation players including major contributors, Connor Estep (Senior) and Braylon Rucker (Sophomore). Devon Lattimore (Senior) is expected to make a large impact as well as a
group of talented sophomores. The Pirates are playing one of their toughest schedules in recent history and
look forward to competing for a Southern Ohio Conference Championship.
The Pirates will match up with Harvest Prep, who was a State Semi Finalist last year in the Division III OHSAA State Championship, on Sunday December 10, 2023 at 5pm in the Battle in the 740 at Shawnee State University with the hope this game will launch them on to a successful season

Kind of surprised the Trojan men aren't on the schedule. I'm excited to see how Lisath elevates the team this and coming years

I try to follow central Ohio team a little since I'm in the Chillicothe area. The Columbus area teams that are attending this event should be pretty good with some outstanding individuals on their teams. Olentangy Liberty, Hartley, New Albany, Harvest Prep, Reynoldsburg Girls should all have very good squads I'm surprised they were able to draw as much Columbus area team as they did.

Under three weeks to the Inaugural Battle in the 740 at Shawnee State University. Event features 12 action packed games with both boys and girls teams from the 740 and girls and boys teams from Central Ohio with boys teams from Kentucky and West Virginia. Quality teams, players and coaches with high expectations for the coming season with the ultimate goal a State Championship will be participating.

Coaches looking to scout future opponents, media members wanting to cover the games and teams wishing to participate in future events can scroll the site for information .Tickets are $10 pre sale for students, Seniors and Adults. Tickets purchased the weekend of the event are $12 for Students and Seniors and $15 for Adults. All pre sale tickets are available on line with tickets available game day at the door with either credit card or cash for purchase.Ticket is good for all games on the day the ticket admits.

The Ashland Paul Blazer Tomcats are coming off of their 16th consecutive Regional title entering this season. The Tomcats have reloaded and look to make another deep run into March and the Kentucky State Championships. They return their leading scorer and third team all-state wing in Zander Carter who is a top 20 player in Kentucky who recently committed to Liberty University.Other key returners include Asher Adkins, Nate Freize , Braxton Jennings and Cam Davis. Lead by second year Coach Ryan Bonner, Ashland brings a toughness and energy to the floor that is exciting for all fans of basketball. The team depends on speed, athleticism, strength and shot making ability to play a fast paced free flowing style of offense . Defensively they play a tough, gritty style of play in the half court. The Tomcats advanced to the Elite Eight in the Kentucky State tourney last year, They will face a strong Olentangy Liberty squad from Central Ohio in the Battle in the 740 at Shawnee State University on Saturday December 9th with a 5pm tipoff,
