Trimble 48 a final

... the pfloyd tour made a stop at Meigs High School Saturday night to catch 12-2, D2 Meigs entertaining 11-4 , D4 Trimble ... a win for either team would get them RPI points at all levels for the post season seeding ... the Tomcat defense was an early issue for the Marauders as MHS turned the ball over 5 times in the opening period ... Trimble got scoring from Levi Weber 4pts/Cole Wright 2pts in the paint and big numbers off the bench from Kayden Kempton 3pts with a triple/ Brady Jajczyk a trey and 2 drives to the rim 7pts to lead the THS scoring in the period ... for Meigs 4 of their 5 starters dented the napkin stat sheet led by Cayden Gheen's 6pts on a pair treys/ 4 points from Conlee Burnem/ 4 points from Reed Brinager on a drive to the rim & a transition bucket after a Tomcat turnover ... 1 of 2 transition baskets in the quarter for Meigs after THS miscues ... 6-4 Dustin Vance rounded out the Marauder scoring with a baseline drive for 2pts and 2 for 2 from the FT-line ... Meigs 18 Trimble 17 after 1 ... Meigs adjusted to the pressure defense of the Tomcats , taking care of the ball in the 2nd, only 1 turnover ... more possessions showed up in points on the scoreboard as Meigs outscored Trimble 16-5 in the 2nd led by Brayden Stanley's 9 pts in the period including back to back treys with a putback bucket & 1 ... Cayden Gheen added his 3rd three-pointer plus a midrange jumper (5pts) ... Vance was consistent in the paint for MHS picking up 3 more points in the quarter/7 for the half ... the only points in the quarter for Trimble were 2pts each for Kempton & Levi Weber to go with Jajczyk's 1/2 from the line ... Meigs finished 5/11 from behind the arc for the half while Trimble went 2 for 6 from downtown ... Meigs 34 Trimble 22 after 2 quarters ... Too much size, too many offensive weapons & too many turnovers (17) for Trimble to get back into this one as Stanley continued to find the bottom of the net from behind the 3 point line - 2 more treys in the 3rd/4 for the game for the senior (8pts in the qtr/17 to lead the Marauders for the game) ... Vance picked up 2 pointers with a drive down the baseline/a putback 2pter/ and a transition bucket (6pts) / Brinager added 4pts/Burnem a deuce ... for Trimble, senior post player Cole Wright led the scoring with 6pts/ 2 pts each from Luke Orsborne/Kempton and Weber ... Brady Jajczyk hit his 2nd three ball of the game (11pts on the night) ... Meigs 56 Trimble 37 after 3 ... Trimble won the final quarter 11-5 as Luke Orsborne hit a trey (his second 3 ball of the game 8pts), Kayden Kempton had 3pts on a transition bucket & 1/2 from the FT line ... Trimble went 6/10 from the line in the 4th to close out their scoring on the game ... Meigs closed their napkin stats with 2pts on drives to the rim by Burnem & Vance and 0/6 from the line in the qtr ... Meigs 61 Trimble 48 a final ...

... on a side note ... after battling it out last night at Sutton Gymnasium in Marietta, the opposing coaches in that one - Coach Gardner/Coach Warner for the Tigers of Marietta and Coach Maddox/Coach Rod Padgett for Warren were at Meigs getting eyes on the D2 Meigs squad in person ... not that Coach Maddox wondered if pfloyd was in the cheap seats at Marietta last night LOL but I told him that I purposely stayed away from him so as not to mess up any positive mojo before the game last night ... had a good talk about hs hoops with Coach Warner during the half time break of the varsity game - Coach Warner - one of the classy guys in the coaching ranks ... the coaching fraternity in SEO got better when Coach Warner decided it was time to grab the clipboard/whiteboard again and get back court side ... might get to see both Warren and Marietta battle it out one more time in district action at the Convo in late February/early March ...

... have the Marauders EVER been healthy??? saw one in a knee brace & street clothes - HE didn't look to be coming back this season ... then Brayden Stanley started, played , knocked down 4 treys/17pts - by the 4th quarter he was out of the game getting his ankle worked on /shoe off/never returned ... All 5 starters can score the ball - solid offensive team for sure - Brayden Stanley 17pts 4 treys/ Dustin Vance 15pts / Cayden Gheen 11 pts 3 treys/ Conlee Burnem 8pts / Reed Brinager 8pts ...

No not really, the one in the knee brace and street clothes was senior star 6’5” guard Braylon Harrison who tore his ACL in the first 2 minutes of the Vinton County game when he had a break away dunk and landed awkwardly and he is in fact out for the season after having surgery, Brayden Stanley is tough and will be back to starting next game I guarantee it, those young men play for each other when their teammates are down or injured

... Meigs having all of the starters capable of scoring the ball makes it tough to double down on the inside/ makes opponents HAVE TO play them straight up ... nice ball club ... as I posted in my rundown of the game last night, the Marauders struggled with the Trimble pressure in the opening quarter - made me make a note of it on my napkin stat sheet (5 turnovers in the 1st quarter) BUT they only had 5 the next 3 quarters combined & 2 of those 5 in the last 3 qtrs were "player control" foul turnovers ...

I also believe 6’4” freshman starting guard Reed Brinager left the game late 3rd quarter due to an apparent hand injury after a bad fall on a lay up where his legs were clipped from under him

No they have NEVER been fully healthy and it's quite unfortunate.
You must have overlooked the post last week which updated you on Braylon Harrison and his ACL surgery.
Braylon would've without a doubt been one of the top players in the TVC this year.
Stanley is dealing with some foot issues but he is tough and fighting through it.
This team has been hit with a lot of bad injury luck the past few seasons and it sucks! What else can you do but fight through it!!
They are very bonded and they will continue to fight for each other!

Brinager is a key player for Meigs. Hand or elbow injury? I’m sure someone will know more about him in a day or two. He’s one of the better freshmen around.

Any update on the Meigs players who may have been injured Saturday night? Brinager in particular seemed to take a hard fall.

Not looking good for Freshman starter Brinager.
Meigs will continue to fight for each other and battle through adversity as they have all year.

Looked like Brinager had an elbow or wrist injury, but I didn’t know if he’d miss any games. Sounds like maybe?

Broken bones in hand requiring surgery is what we've heard.

Ouch that’s gonna hurt, he’s huge part of the success with his play on both ends of the court
