What a joke that Devon Lattimore is only 2nd team!! He outplayed three of the players on the first team, Copley, Berry and Montgomery in there head to head matchups this year. 6-0 against all three.


Also, how is Alex Prater not the coach of the year?? He had mostly Sophomore's coming back with Lattimore coming in whom had hardly played any ball with these guys and Prater leads Burg to the SOCIII championship and he gets nothing??

System is a joke! Latimore not making 1st team is a joke. Sommer not making 1st team is a joke. Western wins a total of 7 games and has 3 kids on district team. Minford places 3rd in SOC3 and has 4 kids on district team. If Wheelersburg only has a 2nd team and honorable mention how is Prater not coach of the year!! Should be with Latimore on 1st team. If Lattimore isn’t first team, then Prater would have to be COY…and even if Lattimore was first team (which he should have been), then Prater should have been COY.

The all district teams have been lacking common sense for awhile now. Burg’s coach should’ve got coach of the year being that his team got the 1 seed, no player on 1st team all while being in a better conference. Makes too much sense to get it for the voters.

Also, it sounds bad but in no way should some players make all district teams if their team doesn’t win more than 3-4 games. You’re telling me Burg can’t get more than 2 kids but west union gets 1?

Part of the issue for DIII is that there are 18 teams voting for 15 spots on the teams, so somebody is going to be left out.

Each team gets an honorable mention slot, so those aren’t even voted on.

DII only gets 10 slots since there are 8 teams, while DIV gets 15 slots for 9 teams. That doesn’t make much sense either.

I trust the AP in these situations more as they have likely seen all of the teams and players. That should come out in a week or so.

Couldn't agree with this point any more! Valid points! It truly is a shame that the selection of these teams has become so political. Really takes away from the spirit of the awards - recognizing the players that have had a tremendous season and help their team win. Instead it seems more like an episode of survivor where coaches are vying for votes through alliances and the good ole boys club.

Burg's lack of representation in the district awards is proof that it's a sham and contains zero validity. Your points about only two players represented (only 1 really being voted on since honorable mention is appointed) and Coach Prater not getting COY are spot on. He returned 1 player from last years varsity team, won SOC 3, and obtained the 1 seed in the district (never losing to a Div 3. district team in the regular season 10-0). In contrast - last years' SOC champ and district 1 seed were represented by both POY and COY. .......and somehow kept 4 players on the district team this year after not accomplishing the same feats.
