I know it's waaaaay early BUT July 4th'ish has teachers thinking about the upcoming NEW school year ... since I'm now "on a fixed income" I don't have to prep for the 2024-25 school year academically , I can now turn to figuring out where the schools in the SE District's 7 divisions stand as far as rosters for the 2024-25 school year ... as always we have teams who lost a bunch to graduation, others have lost to graduation but gained from the "transfer portal" ...
... trying to get a feel for the move in's/transfers SO FAR in the summer ... so far based on what I've read on some of the threads on SEOPs:
Portsmouth picked up :
Connie Thomas ... 5-8 jr. Notre Dame
Daequan Woods ... 5-8 jr Notre Dame
Logan Adkins ...... 6-2 jr Wheelersburg
Circleville picked up:
Kole Nungester ... 6-0 sr Teays Valley
Portsmouth West picked up:
Logan Wolfenbarker ... 6-4 jr Northwest
Minford picked up :
Drew Haggy ... 5-11 sr Western Pike
Meigs picked up :
Carson Davis ... 6-8 jr Bloom Carroll
New Boston picked up:
Ian Spiess ... 6-4 sr Colorado
Wyatt McNeil ...6-0 jr. Portsmouth West
... if ANY of these are NOT correct please let me know and I will immediately delete
We have multiple coaching changes:
Meigs (Coach Ryan Davis)
Alexander (Coach Jordan Hill)
Unioto (Coach Matt Combs)
Circleville (Coach Evan Callihan)
McClain (Coach Jarrod Haines)
Ripley (Coach Jeremy Bennington)
North Adams (Coach Austin McCormick)
Zane Trace (Coach Tyler Cassidy)
Logan (Coach Robert Hayes)
Trimble (Coach Tracy Blevins)
Lynchburg Clay (Coach Kyle Pertuset )
Rock Hill (Coach Dave Shugg)
... others ????

I can't 100% confirm, but I believe there is a transfer going to Jackson for baseball, but also plays basketball. ~6'2", Senior leader/experienced, sounds like a solid contributor, role-player type. If I hear confirmation, I'll circle back so it isn't just speculation.
Also heard that Coach Wallis (Caleb's father) will be back on the sidelines as an assistant perhaps. His positive coaching style could be a saving grace for keeping kids playing beyond Soph/Jr years in Jackson.

bc, any idea where this transfer is coming in from? 6-2 is good size for Jackson LOL - they never seems to have THAT 6-5+ size ... would be nice to see what Coach Morrow could/would do with some real size to go with the defensive philosophy, intensity expectation, and the 6-1'ish talent they have coming back ... the JHS returning junior class is outstanding - Stephen Jenkins/Charlie Woodard/Ryan Seimetz/Bodhi Wolford/Jax Carroll ...Boston Campbell's graduation is big BUT this group of now juniors has had a couple of seasons of varsity experience so the SENIOR leadership isn't AS important this coming season BUT any coach or team would welcome a solid, experienced, senior role players ... CJ Crabtree at 6-4 as freshman last season is the Ironman size returning , IF the transfer is a physically strong 6-2 who can hold his own in the paint (a Boston Campbell type) - he will fit right in ... Coach Wallis on the return courtside? Coach Wallis is outstanding, one of the things I admire about the best teams year to year in SEO is that they USUALLy have a chemistry among the coaching staff - Jackson has, has had THAT chemistry - of which Coach Wallis was a big part of - I hope both of your observations/suggestions are true
bc !

I have on very good authority that it is Garrett Legg. Piketon has also lost Declan Davis to Eastern. Not good for the Red Streaks.

... Thanks mikepike ... I double confirm that it is Garrett Legg as well. The loss of Davis to Eastern will definitely effect how I look at Piketon and Eastern Pike for the preseason ...

Thank you, team! Sorry I was hesitant to confirm... I was second/third hand info.
Looking forward to digging into stats this season, I should have a cheap seat at quite a few games.

... with ALL of the transfer information we've had this summer - this, imo, is one of the busiest "transfer portal" seasons I have seen in SEO at least at the varsity levels - with all of the transfers reported, the upcoming school year begins in 4 weeks or so, a month ... the only thing now is to see if the students reportedly transferring to new schools actually enroll in those new schools in the next month ... I don't know personally of ANY of the situations, I wish them all the best in doing what is best for them as a student/athlete ...

Did Haggy ever actually commit to transferring to Minford or was it ever set in stone that he was doing so? Or was this just completely a rumor from the start that never materialized?

not sure but do not think it matters. He is at Western and even if he was set in stone going to minford he never started there.

We are definitely well into the 2024-25 school year, time to look at the "transfer portal" again ... transfers who we THOUGHT were moving into new school districts, onto new TEAMS - DID THEY MOVE?
... the biggest "I'm staying put, not transferring after all" that I know of is Drew Haggy of Western Pike - staying put, not going to Minford - major impact for both teams - Minford will need to find depth from within while Western Pike keeps a leader, scorer, gamer to give THEM depth, multiple offensive weapons, that TRIBE mentality , TEAM ...
... I'm curious to know if there "players" who moved into districts that have flown under the radar that will be impact players this season ...
