North Adams 61
Eastern Brown 41 a final

I took the early 2 hr 15 min flight out of the Hocking Hills to be able to get a seat at the BIG matchup in the SHAC at Eastern Brown High School - Eastern Brown vs North Adams ... outstanding programs each, EB headed by legendary , hall of fame coach Coach Rob Beucler while NA is under new leadership in first year coach Coach Austin McCormick ... 2 storied programs each with a different MO this season - Eastern Brown has a mix of underclassmen and seniors in the starting lineup (2 seniors/1 soph/2 juniors) while North Adams sports a starting cast of 5 seniors, all players who were part of last seasons regional final run at the Convo ... the 2 teams are night and day in the style of play on the floor - the Warriors of EB are a half court, deliberate, run the offense from set plays type of team while the Green Devils in part due to the lack of size, an uptempo, pressure the ball, get out in transition, shoot the 3 and chase down the rebound type of team ... last night, in an early meaningful, league game - senior leadership, senior experience, senior big game "been there, done that" attitude won the night and the game North Adams 61 Eastern Brown 41 a final ...

North Adams ..... 10 ... 27 ... 44 ... 61
Eastern Brown ... 09 ... 14 ... 23 ... 41

... the opening quarter was a feel out type of quarter yet it gave us a look at what was to come as North Adams took 10 three pointers in the quarter netting 2 ... 4 of the 5 starters dented the napkin stat sheet with points Breestin Schweickart 3pts/ Carson Osborne 3 pts - each draining a trey ... Connor Young hit a midrange jumper while Konnor Rogers chipped in a pair of FTs ... for Eastern Brown sr Pryce Murphy had 5pts on a drive to the rim and a midrange 2pter & one ... 6-3 jr forward Grady Barber got to the rim twice for buckets , 4pts ... North Adams 10 Eastern Brown 9 after 1 ... close game thru 1 .. yet the writing was on the wall as NA had the advantage of getting more shots on goal, and shots of the 3 point variety while EB in its' want to be deliberate, control the tempo struggled hitting shots , and the ones being made were 2 pters ... in the end the combination of not shooting the ball well and trying to match 3 pointers with 2 pointers - you fall behind ... EB isn't built to make up deficits in a hurry ... quarter #2 had the Warriors getting only 2 fgs both by Grady Barber on putbacks off of misses 4pts ... the only other points were 1/2 from the line for Murphy ... shots not falling, only 1 man getting in the scoring column ... not a good scenario ... for North Adams all 5 starters put up points in the quarter , the Green Devils got out in transition using their speed and quickness forcing 4 EB turnovers 3 of which resulted in NA transition buckets ...Schweickart added a pair treys plus a transition shot at the rim (8pts) ... Jayce Rothwell 2 pt transition basket/ Connor Young 3pts with a triple/ Rogers a transition bucket & one 3pts/ Osborne 1/2 from the line ... Coach McCormick's troops now had control of the tempo of the game, forged the 13 point lead, defensively took away the scoring options/opportunities for EB ... forcing EB to play the NA game ... North Adams 27 Eastern Brown 14 at the half ... North Adams had too many weapons , all experienced , all smelling blood in the water ... as the only offensive weapon for Eastern was 6-4 jr Grady, as he was able to force his way inside where he got shots at the rim - the strong jr forward added 8pts in the 3rd with 3 being putbacks of team misses ... soph PG Chase Pinkerton added 1/2 from the FT line ... EB was playing 1 on 5 offensively as North Adams continued to get team scoring as Rothwell 4pts/ Young 5 pts with a trey/ Rogers 5 pts with a trey/ Schweickart 2 points at the rim - the winning equation was team speed kills, more shots on goal than the opponent, we're quicker to the ball on rebounds, we may not make ALL of our threes but were going to make enough to outscore your 1 person offense making 2 pointers on offensive boards ... North Adams 44 Eastern Brown 23 after 3 ... Eastern Brown has a very good JV team (beating NA 40-37 in the night's opener) ... a good group of JV shooters ... Coach Beucler brought in the youngsters in the 4th ... it paid dividends - not enough to close the gap, but enough to win the quarter 18-17 ... Vance/Barber each picked up 2 pts while off the EB bench soph Kayne Dotson picked up 5 pts / soph Jaidon Florence hit a pair of three pointers 6pts ... and Sam Ramer 2pts with a transition bucket ... the only player to score fgs for NA in the quarter was senior Breestin Schweickart 11 pts in the period/ the rest of the scoring came at the line Rothwell 2/6 ... Rogers 2/2 ... senior Caleb DeAtley 2/4 ... in the end the early matchup in the SHAC was won by the seniors of North Adams 61 Eastern 41 a final
