... the pfloyd tour made it's way west of Rte 23 to take in the FAC matchup the Washington CH Blue Lions (5-2) entertaining the 2-1 Hillsboro Indians ... the tone of the game was set when Hillsboro was assessed a 2 shot technical prior to the beginning of the game - Noah Haithcock dropped 1/2 technical foul attempts to put the Blue Lions out front 1-0 before anytime was taken off the game clock ... WCH as well got the ball on the side out ... it would prove a bad omen for the Indians ... WCH proved that size does matter as the Blue Lions took charge in the opening quarter as 6-2 sr. Roman Chijevsky took control offensively in the paint accounting for 6 pts in the qtr - a putback bucket for 2 pts and a pair of buckets in the paint ... 6-6 jr Noah Haithcock added 2 pts in the paint to go with 2/2 from the FT line (5 pts in the period) ... the remaining points in the qtr were 2pts on another Blue Lion offensive board and putback by jr. Bryson Heath ... lacking in size on both ends of the floor, the Indians could counter with but 6 pts. Xander Lake (transfer from East Clinton) accounted for 4 pts in the lane 2 on a offensive move at the rim & a 2nd on a putback bucket ... soph shooting guard Jack Howland got into the lane for 2 pts ... Washington CH 13 Hillsboro 6 after one ... Coach Howland's Indians are a solid basketball team - undersized but a lineup full of scorers - Jack Howland, Tate Davis the FAC Player of the Year in 23-24 , Xander Lake , Mason Dumpert, Clay Hunter all perimeter scoring threats ... in the 2nd 4 of 5 starters put up points on the napkin stat sheet as well getting assistance off the bench from Trey Captain ... Davis led the way with 6pts - a transition fg & one to go with his patented midrange jumper from the foul line extended 2 pts to go with 1/2 from the line ... Clay Hunter and Jack Howland each drained a trey 3pts each in the qtr... Lake added a putback bucket 2pts and Captain got into the lane for 2 pts ... the offense played well with a defensive effort that turned the Lions over 7 times in the period ... hard to score without the ball as WCH picked-up but 2 fgs - a 3 ball from 6-1 jr. Jeston Everhart 3pts/ and driving shot and finish at the rim for Noah Haitcock 2pts ... the remaining scoring was Chijevsky 2/2 from the line and Bryson Heath 1/3 from the charity stripe ... Hillsboro 22 Washington CH 21 after 2 ... thru the opening half of play the Blue Lions had taken advantage of their size advantage in the paint Haithcock/Chijevsky with 15 of the 21 points for the Lions ... after the Indians opened with Xander Lake going 2/2 from the line and hitting an open 12 footer ... the Blue Lions went on a 17-0 run highlighted by 4 Blue Lion 3's - Javin Baker hitting 3 treys and Jeston Everhart 1 on his own ball ... in between raining threes WCH turned the Indians over 4 times in the qtr. with Heath taking 2 coast to coast for 4pts ... Chijevsky took entry passes in the lane on 2 trips for easy buckets at the rim... by the time the smoke cleared and the buzzer sounded the Blue Lions had taken command of the game ... defense/inside outside scoring/ rebounding & controlling the boards - a complete game in one quarter as both Chijevsky and Haithcock were in double figures rebounding /Chijevsky with 12pts already & a double double on the night ...Haithcock close to 10 rbs and 8pts thru 3 qtr ... Washington CH 42 Hillsboro 28 after 3 ... the 4th period was a formality as the Indians were able to put up 13 pts - a pair of 3's - one each from Mason Dumpert and Trey Captain ... 2 fgs in the lane - one from Clay Hunter and second from Dylan Dixon coming in off the bench ... Davis added 3/4 from the line to end the scoring for HHS ... this game was over when Roman Chijevsky took an entry pass on the right foul line extended, drove the lane on the right side for 2pts, on the ensuing offensive trip down court, Chijevsky took the pass on the opposite side, drove the lane scoring on the left side ... mirror image buckets for the jr. forward/post player ... by the time RC was done he had another bucket in the lane and 2/2 from the line in the 4th period 8pts in the qtr/20 on the game to go with double digits boards ... Javin Baker scored on a pair of transition drives and finishes 4pts/13 pts on the night ... for good measure Everhart drained a trey giving him 3 triples on the evening 9pts ...
