Vinton County 24 years .500+

Post by Dundas »

Is there any other team in seo that hasn’t posted a non winning season since 2001? Congrats to VC as they maneuvered their way through a difficult season to achieve this historical mark! It hasn’t been easy this year but they persevered!

Not sure luck is involved in a 24 year winning streak. The TVC has never been a dominant conference top to bottom ever. Vinton County’s non conference schedule has always been brutal in terms of TVC teams. To reach a 24 year mark of a winning record speaks volumes to the school, athletes, coaches, and community. I’ll ask again, name another school with this accomplishment?

Impressive to never be under .500 for that long.

Wasn’t too impressive this year but the streak intact.

Playing Ross County Christian is surprising

That is an impressive run. I know most schools in the area can't say that for 10 years let alone 24

This needs to be broadcasted nationwide. No one gives VC credit for all their achievements. All everyone wants to say is they are afraid of Warren, and they play weak Christian school teams and Combs jumped ship when the talent ran out. So what if all that’s true, they achieved mediocre by being.500 for 20+ years and I think they made it to one regional final in that span. What other teams can make such a boast? Viking Pride!

It is impressive. To say otherwise is disingenuous and intellectually dishonest. However, it has been a difficult year for the Vikings. They returned only one player with varsity experience, started two sophomores, and had an all-conference guard get hurt in a freak accident that will cost him a very promising track season. It has been a weird year, but they persevered, finished second in the conference, and have another winning season.

Playing Ross County Christian Academy was a last-minute decision because McClain could not or would not, I am not sure, reschedule a postponed game due to weather. The Vikings did not want to lose a game. RCCA, would not consider "...sisters of the poor..." They are solid and have great athletes. Heck, in this game were three dunks and none by a Viking.

I don’t get putting this down. It is impressive to never really struggle in a season for over 2 decades.

Multiple district titles in that time too, so it’s not just because of playing in the TVC as they have had quality teams in the non-conference throughout the last 24 seasons too.
