Did anyone catch the Fort Frye /Waterford game last night?
Waterford won by 16.
I think they lost to them by that early in the season.

I went to the game. Was tied at 19 at half. I think FF scored on the first possession of the 3rd quarter and then didn’t score again until halfway through the 4th. Pretty ugly basketball all the way around.

Thanks sportsfan. Wasn’t sure what the deal was. I know Waterford has had some good games, but they are a young team. I know the last time they played- It was pretty physical and pretty intense. just curious on anybody’s take on the game other than ugly basketball because that’s typically what that game results in because of the physicality.

Miller for Fort Frye was in foul trouble most of the game. Missed most of the second qtr and 3rd qtr with foul trouble. I think that hurt FF on offense. Waterford played really good defense. They packed the paint and used their length to protect the rim. FF couldn’t get anything going to the basket and it seemed like most of their jumpers were short. Waterford on offense couldn’t find much of flow either. They did knock down a couple of 3s in the 3rd that provide some separation. Waterford spent most the 4th just running a triangle out top and keeping the ball from FF. IMO Fort should’ve brought miller back in in the 3rd quarter even with 3 fouls. I think it would’ve been worth the risk because they couldn’t get anything going on offense. I know the game never really got out of hand in the 3rd, but they essentially lost the game in the 3rd quarter with their best player on the bench.

Tried to listen to it on the radio, but not a fan of either commentator that was there. Very FF sided with their commentary Seemed very physical. And definitely there is some height on the Waterford team and length. Just very surprised by the score. Expected it to be closer . Definitely should’ve put Miller back in the game. He is an offensive threat. But I’m just wondering if Waterford has hit a point in their season that they have worked things out. I know they start quite a few sophomores. Which bodes well for the future, but just wondering if it finally clicked for them. They have seemed to be in some games or ahead and then go flat in the second half.
I know the Caldwell game last week, they had a player that was almost at 20 points by the half. And they were beating Caldwell after the first quarter. Just seems like there’s some things to work out.
But that’s a pretty big win for them considering their earlier meeting was about the same spread, but the cadets took that one at home. Thanks for the insight.
