I watched Whiteoak frustrate Cam Thoroughman out of the tournament his senior year…maybe they can do it to Eli Roberts this year.

Regardless, the year SW won state they knocked a very good Whiteoak team out in the district finals ….this is just the district semis. Sorry Jeeps, no deja vu all over again.

Ironman: forgot all about that Whiteoak upset of Clay and Thoroughman! If I recall right, that was the Barnett years for Whiteoak. I knew Webster had the horses to win state that year when they beat that solid Whiteoak team by 40 in District Finals.*

Clay and Thoroughman and company didn’t make it out of the Sectional that year. Matter fact, Whiteoak beat them by 30. Insane.

Even wilder, Clay beat Western in the Sectional semi a game earlier (Western went to a Regional Championship the following year). Toughest Sectional I’ve ever seen. SW went on to dominate Whiteoak by 30 at the coveted Convo. Southern OH basketball was real.

Not to mention - Whiteoak beat Eastern Pike in the District semi. That EP team won the conference (beat Clay and Western twice) and beat SW in the preview to kick off the season.

I don’t recall who the 1st team all district guys were that year but I bet it was an absolute squad.

Look up 23 in Waverly and you’ll see a familiar name running the point for the Tigers that was a 1st Teamer for that Eastern team

I remember that game for Whiteoak over Eastern, I was very surprised at the record Eastern had with how they played that night. They had a great year and a disappointing finish.

Also, Robbie Barnett was awesome for the Wildcats.

Yes, Barnett completely dominated Thoroughman with full court defense. Frustrated Thiroughman fouled out in the 3rd qtr down more than 20 points. Barnett went for 28 and barely played the 4th.

Then beat a very good Zac Alexander led Eastern Pike team by 20+ and then the Jeeps flexed their muscles and Waginger just kept stealing the darn ball like a meant pants. To this day I believe 2 of the top 3 or 4 defenders I’ve ever seen in the SE district were on the same floor.
