North Adams 65
Peebles 45 a final

... if you are first year coach , you would love to enter your maiden year having 5 seniors in your starting lineup, all having either played in or been on 2 consecutive District Championship teams - Welcome to my world- first year head coach for the North Adams Green Devils- Coach Austin McCormick ... don't get me wrong, Coach McCormick played an integral part in those 2 district 'ship teams as an assistant to Coach Copas ... starting with a talented group of players that have been there done that at a high level - Life is Good ... the North Adams Green Devils ARE good ... if they can play their game they play it as well as anyone - get out in transition, run the floor, push the ball, hit the three, run down hill finishing at the rim ... opponents - if you can't keep up you will be left in the dust as NA "don't look in their rearview mirror" ... North Adams 65 Peebles 45 a final ...

... North Adams had beaten Peebles 2 times during the regular season +9 margins of victory each time ... although the saying goes "it's hard to beat a team 3 times in the same season" - I'm thinking the seniors for North Adams don't read those "old sports adages" either as the Green Devils opened the game running both figuratively and literally using their speed to get to the front of the basket scoring 4 fgs in the paint along with tossing another sport adage out - "it tough to shoot three pointers at the Convo due to not being used to the shooting background" - sr. Konnor Rogers knocked down his first two 3's for 6pts to go with a drive and finish 2pts /8 in the qtr. ... Carson Osborne followed with a 3 ball of his own ... the Green Devils going 3/5 from behind the arc in the first frame ... Connor Young added a putback bucket and dribble drive for 4pts for NA ... Breestin Schweickart got on the napkin stat sheet with a transition bucket off of 1 of 3 forced turnovers by the NA defense in the opening period ... the Indians of Coach Arey were left in the dust putting up 7 pts in the quarter 6-2 jr Grady Knechtly with 2 pts in the paint/ Hayden Browning cut across the paint for 2pts and soph Josh McClary hit a 3 pointer for PHS ... North Adams 17 Peebles 7 after 1 ... the 2nd period saw North Adams continue pressuring the ball, attacking the rim, knocking down threes and beating the Indians on the boards - not a good combination in basketball ... the Green Devils forced 4 Peebles turnovers (7 for the half) converting 2 into transition buckets/points ... in the opening half NA out rebounded the Indians 17-10 in the half getting 9 second chance points off of offensive boards Jayce Rothwell & fr. Carson Davis claiming a couple of those 4pts ... Peebles shot the ball better in the 2nd period going 4/11... 36% ... adding 1/4 from behind the 3 point line to the mix ... still not enough as NA outscored the Indians 21-13 as NA rode another 3 for 5 shooting from 3 point land to help keep PHS at arms length and then some ... Carson Osborne with the heavy lifting draining a pair of threes (6pts) and a transition bucket for 8pts in the qtr/11 in the half ... Connor Young added the Green Devils 6th trey of the half ... North Adams 38 Peebles 20 after 2 quarters ... game , set and match as the Green Devils held serve in the final 2 quarters letting sr. Breestin Schweickart play 1 on 5 at the offensive end - the talented guard/forward/post player - had 6 points in the first 2 quarters ... in quarter 3 BS went off for 11 points hitting shots at all 3 levels - midrange jumper 2pts/ drive to the rim & finish 2pts/ floater in the paint 2pts / NBA range 3/ offensive putback 2pts ...somewhere in the Schweikart barrage of baskets made, Konnor Rogers knocked down his 3rd trey of the game ... Peebles unable to stop Schweickart got points at their end from Knechtly 4pts/ Carson Reed 4pts/ Browning with a 2pter just inside the 3 point line ... Peebles had more shots on goal 18 hitting 5 for 27.8 % shooting ... not nearly enough as the quarter ended North Adams 52 Peebles 30 after 3 ... Peebles was able to put up 15 points in the 4th and final period beating NA 15-13 ... Schweickart scored 11 more points on his ball 3 fgs on drives to the rim, and 5/8 from the line ... 11pts in the qtr/28 for the game for the senior ... Peebles got continued solid effort from the players, Hayden Browning hit a pair of 3's before leaving the game to close out his career at PHS with 14 pts on the game ...running mate sr. Carson Reed added 5pts in the qtr/9 for the night ... North Adams captured their 3rd straight District Crown ... the first for Coach McCormick as the Head Coach of the Green Devils ... North Adams 65 Peebles 45 a final ...
