LOL ... Falcons are in ... nice!

Now we just have to get you down to the 'foreign school' for a game ... I think you would like it Floyd, very 'old school gym' ... seating on one side, split level, the whole works ... you can even walk over to Wal-Mart at halftime and load up on twizzlers ... lol

2nd recommendation would be 'The Eagles Nest' in Belpre - or as I like to call it: The Crackerjacks Box ... if the Golden Eagles are relevant or good, that place is a flippin circus on Friday nights.

and BTW ... McAfee Gymnasium on The Plains is getting a makeover ... the entire floor is tore up and a new one is being put down as we speak ... should be pretty cool.

I agree bulldog. Floyd MUST see a game in Belpre! Its like no other. Oh and btw.. I heard coach Skinners new floor would have the purple hippo at center court, replacing the bulldog. Any truth to this?

... the Purple Hippo Center Court at McAfee Gymnasium in the Plains! it would become a National Monument, okay Southeastern/Southern Ohio historical site at the very least !!! ;-) ... THAT'S WHY Coach Skinner is one of my favorites in Southern Ohio - I love that guy!!! Purple Hippo center court, Purple Hippo T's, mugs, cozies for the Ironton crowd, Athens would become a year round Mecca for Southern Ohio Hoops a must visit basketball location!!! LOL ...

... Dundas/93dog you're right about Belpre - pfloyd has been in the "cheap seats" at BHS for hoops games on many an occasion ... the hardest part was "getting to the school" LOL - you can see it from the highway but have to wind your way through side streets to get there LOL I like the Peebles of the world where you roll off the highway, pass a McD's one turn and you're there kind of drive LOL ... or Zane Trace,Vinton Co where school sits right on the highway LOL hate having to use the Garmin to get out the parking lots kind of schools

Purple Hippo center court ... LOL ... the things coaches do now days to get the coveted #1 ranking on Floyds list ... this has gotten way out of hand I must say, purple hippo license plates on a new car (byer unknown - probably the folks from down in Ironton) ... free pizzas, trips to Florida ... geeeez ... what's next, gyms being named after him?

"Welcome to PFLOYD PALACE, home of the Warren Warriors!"

lol

TVC school locations:

Nelsonville-York - may need mapquest, but still sits off a main road.
Vinton County - right off the highway.
Meigs - right off the highway
Wellston - HA! better have a map, GPS and a cell phone in case you get lost.
Alexander - right off main highway.
Athens - can be tricky to those who have never been.

Trimble - kind of off the main rd.
Federal Hocking - seems right off a main road if your talking to people from southeastern Ohio. Outsiders view it as being in the boondocks.
Eastern - super easy, right off the main rd.
Belpre - easy to find once you've been their ... lol ... take a left at the firehouse, that's all you need to know.
Southern - go until you see water, take a left ... kind of easy to find.
Wahama - HA! Purple bridge, Wal-Mart, bingo.
Waterford - yep, get the ol GPS out again on that one ... lol
Miller - not sure a GPS even has Corning/Hemlock on it ... OMG, extremely tough to get too Miller High School is.
South Gallia - another doozy, it exist cause I hear folks talking about it - but found it I have not.

If we are going to start ranking foreign schools just because they play a preponderance of games against Ohio competition, then we should rank ALL the schools in the South Central Ohio League,. which has five of its seven schools as members of the SE District, with the other two play ALL of its games against Ohio schools. Those two schools would be East Clinton and Clinton-Massie that should also be included.

pfloyd, an update to your coaching list as Trevor Younkin, who spent eight years as the assistant at Teays Valley, will be voted on Monday as the new Westfall coach. He held a meet-and-greet last night. Coach Younkin should do a nice job at Westfall, which will be a team to watch probably in 2014-15. They'll be pretty young this upcoming season, but you never know come tourney time if they can get some of the youth to develop to go with some established pieces.

Yes, if you want to drop by the school outside of Wilmington, they'll knock you over the head with their state championship football trophy. :122246 :122246 :122246 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249 :122249

LOL ... Coach how did your Sheridan boyz do this summer? I understand that SHS participated in the C'bus Summer League with Athens ... I think it is awesome that you had your boys playing "up" in competition this summer ... I noticed that Sheridan will be playing my Logan Purple 2x this winter ...look forward to seeing your squad a couple times before the post season play here in the Logan Sectional ...

Coach Skinner said he was impressed with Sheridan on my radio show last week ... which begs the question: what will happen with the new count when it comes to teams/divisions ... the new football divisions have been released, but basketball won't be until early fall ... if Fairland went back down to DIII, we may have to move back to only TWO teams getting out of the Logan sectional ... This would be brutal! Athens, Warren, Logan Elm, Sheridan, Vinton County ... only two get out? Wow!

... obviously I don't about the numbers/divisional breakdown BUT based on the "chatter" around the discussion of Fairland joining the SEOAL - the chatter was that Fairland was a school district that was increasing in enrollment - hopefully Fairland stays in D2 and the discussion of ONLY 2 teams coming out of Logan will be nothing more than a "what if" scenario ...

... I think I already posted how excited I have been to hear about the teams in Southern/Southeastern Ohio "playing up" this summer - Athens/Warren/ Sheridan/Piketon etc. Coaches/Teams looking to get their TEAMS a look at hoops "Above the Line" ... you don't get better by waiting until the post season to see the size/speed/talent you will see in the post season - you HAVE TO expose kids to the talent levels and everything that goes with it in the off season(summer), DURING the regular season (non conference games used to build on/learn from not necessarily to get a "W" on the pocket schedule) ... great stuff Sheridan/Athens/Warren and I' sure many others who have done the same ...

Floyd ... Fairland football dropped to DV and has a reported 202 boys.

the cut off for Division II in basketball, the last two years, has been 215 boys - 368 boys.

Chillicothe will be going D1 and Fairland/Waverly are both likely to D3.

But, Meigs/Minford will definitely be D2 (219) and there's a good chance South Point (209) and Northwest (206) could jump up to D2 as well. I did some number crunching a while back and the # looked to be between 205 and 208, but I'm not the smartest, so that could always be off by a few. If SP jumps to D2, it should still be the same #. But, here's where it could get crazy, if Northwest goes to 2, that would likely put 11 teams at Southeastern, which means a solid Circleville team would jump to Logan (Meigs went to SE when they were D2 before).

I personally hope that it goes to 205ish so Northwest would guarantee the 8 teams to the Convo again, no matter what would happen with the movement of teams.

Oh yeah and would Waverly have to go to Jackson for their sectional games?

I believe Meigs was always in the Logan sectional dani.

Thanks for the 'number crunching' - very interesting stuff.

... hopefully as daniC's number crunching shows that somewhere Below the Line a team WILL move up to D2 to replace the loss of Fairland so that the number of teams coming out of the various sectionals stays as is ... as I said I haven't even looked at the numbers for either football or what it means for basketball either - out of my hands and just like every thing it seems the powers that be will tell us all what is or is not ...

You're right on Meigs, I was thinking that it didn't make much sense for them to go to SE and not Logan, lol.
