... Top Teams in the 18 Counties represented in the Southeast District ( PreSeason) ... I narrowed it down to the Top 3 in each county (in the counties that have 3 or more teams) ... the next step will be to rank each county based on the top 3 TEAMS (or 2 or 1 as will be the case for Vinton/ Hocking/ Fairfield/ Fayette/ Brown/ Pickaway counties) ... rankings will be based on the "strength" of each county's top 3 teams compared to the other counties represented in the Southeast District ...

LOL ... that is awesome ... you are the 'ranking guru' of southeastern Ohio ...

When you catch your breath and need another project ... I would love to see your top 10 gymnasiums list ... and that can be a 'personal ranking' of gyms Floyd likes to watch games in.

:)

INDEED I AM!!!!!! I protest on the fact that the 2nd best team in the county Fort Frye is excluded. The Cadets are a East District favorite. That's ok the Warriors will pick up the slack. Coach Duckworth (yes JV STATE COY) just might shock the world an get the Tigrs into the district. Don't sleep on Marrietta PFloyd. I've watched the magic he has performed the last few years at Warren and he WILL win at Marrietta. TAKE THAT TO THE BANK. Maybe not a lot this year but come tourney time Marietta will be a team NOBODY wants to play.

PS. 93Dog we crushed you on the gym poll. Nice job PFloyd. Ranking the Warrior Dome 4th. For such an old gym that's a nice spot at #4. :) If you exclude the HOMETOWN FAVS that would put the Warriors at #2. Should the committee of one maybe should look at requeseing those locations from the poll as they have an unfair atvantage by the lack of travel needed to enjoy a basketball game. Lol

GO BIG BAD BLUE!

If you were going to include Katie Smith Gymnasium, which is no longer used, how dare you exclude THE STAGE at old Logan High School?

I mean epic battles took place in that rat hole, auditorium, stage, gymnasium ... lol ... Big Jim Redd, 'no way' Jose Medina vs Scott Stricklin and Scott Decaminada ... not to mention all of the performance's by the legend Katie Smith ... even 93Bulldog dropped in a few threes on the stage! (not from the corner though cause the line went out of bounds) ... lol

... I know the Katie Smith call wasn't fair BUT it IS one of my favorite locations to watch a basketball game, notice I placed it above Jym's Gym as well, I think the Katie has far more character than the new Logan gym ... the Katie had a new floor put down this summer as well ... Logan could run a "double sectional" with the new gym and the Katie both in use if it was allowed! not many schools have 2 quality gyms to watch/play hoops ...

... the Warrior Dome - old, small BUT that all adds up to a loud atmosphere, exciting basketball games - I love that place for watching a game - everyone gets to know everyone by games end LOL ... WarriorBlue I KNOW about Fort Frye but I only looked at teams that play in the Southeast District from the counties ... adding FF to Washington County WOULD move them UP the list absolutely! Marietta is an unknown product in the preseason - I again agree with you that Coach Duckworth WILL have the Tigers believing and playing contending basketball by seasons end - Duck's Tigers has all kinds of size, I need to see if the BIGS are able to play the type of defense Duck will demand for 4 quarters ... I also have questions about the Marietta PG position ... Duck WILL get things going in the right direction for the Tigers, I'm going to make sure I get to Sutton to watch Coach Duckworth's boyz this coming season, lend my support to Coach Duckworth, coach has ALWAYS supported me, I will definitely provide MY support to Coach Duckworth - right now I have Marietta sitting on the end table in the preseason poll (that was before Coach Duckworth was hired at MHS) Marietta will move up into the Treehugger rankings with the first season opening ranking just on the Coach Duckworth hire - he will make that much difference in what we will see from the Tigers ...

... 93dog the "stage" on the Hilltop is nothing more than a memory now, not even a brick remains ... I agree that there were epic battles on the stage BUT as for being on my personal list for where I like to watch games - the stage wouldn't make it LOL ...

... McAFee made my list! lots of room, no railing surrounding a balcony area to block your view, just a good overall place to watch hoops ...

... LOL Ben Wagner gymnasium is the home of the 5 hour basketball game! sitting on bleacher seats for 5 hours does NOT leave me wanting to call Ben Wagner "home" - maybe if I had been sitting in some of the "seats" (like the Convo minus the cushions lol) that they have at Zane Trace on the home side I would have added BW to my list ... just posting about being at the 5 hour Nelsonville vs Wellston "foulfest" game makes me cringe! LOL

... another gym I like to watch hoops is at Logan Elm - small, great atmosphere to watch games - I've watched many many great basketball players/Coach Stiverson teams play in that gym ...

Alexander made my personal list from the TVC - small, old school gym with the student section stands behind the basket ... you are right on the floor anywhere in the gym ... AND at Alexander you get LOU on the PA!!!

What is your comment on Portsmouth,s new gym, been there only once, liked it, but of course I loved the old gym, grew up in that facility......just the addition of Trojan Dave allows for grat atmosphere in Portsmouth

I like everything about Portsmouths new gym except the lights! That gym is dimly lit.

... a question for daniC or Johnny_Marzetti ...or anyone else in the know that can give me an answer :

IF teams play a "game" vs another school during the month of November (late November) would this be considered a "scrimmage" (how many scrimmages do teams get?) do the "Foundation Games"/scrimmage( regular season game format) count as a scrimmage? Preview question - do the previews count against the scrimmage totals a school is allowed? ... again I'm looking at "regular game formats" played prior to the regular season - how these type of events counts "against" a team? ...

... just thinking out loud ... I was rereading 93dog's ONLY half kidding posts about having a "Pfloyd's Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line- Best of the Best in Southern/Southeastern Ohio" Preview ... What if the money earned during the games goes to "local charities" AND/OR BACK to the schools participating -does that make a difference in anyway as to how games are treated/count (going against a teams scrimmage total or as a foundation type/preview game) ... again I'm just thinking aloud here ...

5 scrimmages and 1 preview or you can use 1 scrimmage as a foundation game. You could have the schools line up their foundation games and the schools can keep the gate or split it between the two. You cannot call it a game and keep score or time during preseason, except for the foundation game firmat.

<the committee of one - me thinking aloud again>

Questions to ask the Logan AD :

1. Choose a date, is the Purple Palace available on a Saturday (ALL day games/10 teams (5 games)) Logan vs Chillicothe (the only D1 teams in SE Ohio will play each year) ... the other 8 teams will come from the Preseason Elite rankings by Pfloyd's committee of one based on the intention of getting the Best of the Best in Southern/Southeast Ohio each year ...

2. Cost for using the Purple Palace?
3. Custodial cost?
4. Law enforcement cost?
5. Officials for each game scheduled/cost for officials? cost for scoreboard people? official scorer (Craig Dunn)
6. Arrange for "group" to run the concession stand (donated concessions)/group would keep all concession $ earned for the day ...
7. Ticket Price : Adults $7/Students $5 ... admittance is good for the entire day/all games as long as you stay at the Palace
8. Programs - Rosters/team pic
9. Purple Hippo Plaque to the winning team /Pfloyd's Best of the Best Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line T-shirts for all participants - has to be a Purple Hippo on those Tees somewhere LOL (Sponsors/donations) ...
10. Lou Horvath on the PA - a must for the Voice of High School Hoops in Southern/Southeast Ohio to be on the PA
11. Pfloyd's Best of the Best Below the Lancaster-Dixon Line T-shirts for sale item (sponsors donations)

... anything else I need to be thinking out loud about ????

thanks eagles73... how do the "foundation" games get approved as "foundation games" ? ... the schools can set up their foundation game? thinking aloud again - IF I gave 2 schools the date of the "Best of the Best ..." they could turn that in as a "foundation game" being played at Logan High School? or does the foundation game have to be played at one of the two schools participating?
