Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason 13-14
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason 1
Basketball season finished up with the Show in C'bus in late March ...I thoroughly enjoyed getting the chance to see the Warren Warriors make the trip to the Final Four in D2 ... seems like "awhile" ago now BUT for most teams the next couple of weeks will start "open gyms" ... basketball shoes getting laced up again, the sounds of basketballs on the hardwood ... before you know it we will have "shootout" season, summer scrimmages, team camps, the TEAMS for 2013-14 will start to come together - I'm smilin' again LOL ...

PFloyd don't 4get AAU season! Last weekend although on different teams I got to watch Warren Warrior standouts Reece Patton and Mike Hall compete against some very good competition at the Buckeye Prep Invatational in Cols Ohio.
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason 1
WarriorBlue - awesome! glad to hear the boys in Blue are right back at it on the hard court ... look forward to hearing how both Michael Hall and Reece Patton do during the AAU season - keep those boys injury free WB !!! ... Coach Maddox & Co. have usually made the trip to Logan for a summer scrimmage in the Purple Palace - I always make sure I get into the high school to see the boys in action at that time - I'll do the same this summer as well ...

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason 1
Cracks me up when I'm and about and around the baseball diamonds - and I hear different hoops coaches voice their displeasure over pfloyd's pre-season ranking ... lol ... it's happened twice now and we're only a few weeks into the spring season ... curious how many more I will run into before summer ...
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason 1
... 93dog! and YOU probably have the Preseason Elite 8 on a flyer - like on American Pickers - passing them out at the ballparks - strategically pointing out where teams are on the rankings ... so you're out there "actively" turning coaches in SEOhio against the "purple hippo" ?

Now Floyd, I would not do that ... I would not pass out flyers ....pfloyd wrote:... 93dog! and YOU probably have the Preseason Elite 8 on a flyer - like on American Pickers - passing them out at the ballparks - strategically pointing out where teams are on the rankings ... so you're out there "actively" turning coaches in SEOhio against the "purple hippo" ?
.... I just use my ipad to show em.

Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason 1
... AAU/OYB/open gyms are in full swing !!! getting lots of PM's from the SEOPs regulars about returning players from all around SEO who are back on the courts starting early on "champions are made in the off season" - great to hear from many of the SEOPS hoops fans ... I'm looking forward to seeing my Purple in action in June as well as many other squads across Southern/Southeastern Ohio during "Shootout" season ...

Warren's OOC schedule will take a step up this year in competitiveness with the addition of two Columbus private schools as well as a few others. The toughest team Warren will likely face will be defending DII state champ Bishop Watterson.

2013 DII State Champ Cols Bishop Watterson, 2013 DIV State Semi Finalist Lancaster Fairfield Christian Academy, Cols Bishop Hartley, and WV Wheeling Park.
Nice schedule the coaching staff put together.

I hadn't realized that but it's prolly for the best. They will be way down the next few years. Last years games were "chippy" and in games like that the more talented team is at a disadvantage. Injuries occur and feelings get hurt.WHS95FAN wrote:Disappointed to see Belpre drop us Warrior, but hey two less loses for them :122245
The loss of the youth basketball league 6 years ago reared it's ugly head in the Belpre HS basketball program. Last years seniors were the last group to go entirely thru that league. I've always felt that the Belore Youth Basketball league gave Belpre a clear and distinct advantage when it came to devolping kids. Wasn't a Saturday from Nov thru March that there wasn't a gym full of Belpre kids playing basketball. Kids would ride their bikes and "hang out" at the Middle School all day.

Very good OOC scheduling by Coach Maddox........I have been to the state tournament 24 of the last 25 years, and most generally, the teams that win state championships play a demanding schedule. The SEOAL is not tough enough for Warren, so the new teams on their schedule is a step up in scheduling philosophy. It can only help the Warriors.
Re: Pfloyd's Elite 8 of Southern/SouthEast Ohio- Preseason 1
should be a fun year atching Warren try to maintain the top of the elite eight with that slate, especially with Bulldog throing his two cents in

I give Warren about a month atop the standings ... once the Bulldogs make their trip to Vincent for the annual meeting - their reign will be over ... enjoy your #1 ranking while it lasts Warrior faithful ...LetsGoPSU wrote:should be a fun year atching Warren try to maintain the top of the elite eight with that slate, especially with Bulldog throing his two cents in

I will wait to disclose what the Bulldogs are doing this summer - and have in store for this coming winter ... I plan on having Jeff Skinner on next month on 'The Sportfan' - a radio show that airs Monday-Friday on 970 WATH from 6:00 - 7:00 - he can explain the exciting plans Athens will be involved with over the next several months ... I"m sure he will have a few choice words for my man Floyd as well ... lol ... that No. 2 ranking isn't sitting well with the Bulldog faithfull here in A-Town ...trojandave wrote:Very good OOC scheduling by Coach Maddox........I have been to the state tournament 24 of the last 25 years, and most generally, the teams that win state championships play a demanding schedule. Bulldog93: What does your Bulldogs OOC schedule look like? I think Athens should upgrade their schedule as well, as it will only help them. There's no question in my mind that the Green and Gold could uphend Warren for that regional title, but is there anybody on AHS's schedule that comes close to the athletic talent of the D2 state tournament?
