... there you have it - the Final 2007-08 Edition of the Elite 8 ... it's been fun to watch the teams in the Southern part of the state the past 3 and a half months ... some great TEAMS , great PLAYERS both young and old ... got a chance to see the programs that are put together by the best coaches we have to offer - Persin/Kellough/Aronhalt/Maddox/Barrick/Combs/VanMatre/Stiverson/Uhrig/Barr/Young... have seen the "one year wonders" as well - those teams that were a hodge podge of players freshmen/sophs/juniors/seniors that were thrown together for their "one year" of getting it done only to go back to waiting for that "one year" to come along again somewhere down the road ... now it's time to start down the Road to the Convo - the sectional action begins Monday, District/Regional play to follow ... whatever you call it - the "Second Season", the "Post Season", " the One and Done Season" ... the "Season of Survive and Advance" ... it's ALL GOOD ... looking forward to seeing many of you out following/supporting the teams/players on The Road to the Convo in the next 3 weeks ...

pfloyd,

Nice list as usual. You have one of the more insightful and factual based rankings that I see anymore.

Lets see the tourney play out and these teams in the Southeast, get after it and cut some nets down.

GO CAVS!!!

one last time I would like to say is why dont you have Portsmouth West at least on your bottom list they beat New Boston, West Union, and East which is on your list, plus they beat Valley, Northwest, Waverly Twice, South Webster, and Notre Dame.

GO SIDERS, Adena bette watch out because they are gonna be in for a dog fight.

I think East has to be the turn around team of the year going from 3 wins to 12 this year compared to last.

Great job as always Pfloyd.

But Chesapeake is 15-5. The Panthers lost at home last night to Scott (WV) by 2 points. It's almost as if the game never happenned. No reports in the papers, no discussion on here. But I seen it.

Great job as usual. The "new" season officially starts this week. It is now "lose one and you're done". The best of luck to all area teams, especially the OVC teams!! R-E-P-R-E-S-E-N-T!!!

...moose I saw where the 'peake was playing one of those "foreign" teams from across the river for Senior Night (last night) ...you're right nothing posted, nothing brought up I assumed a "W" for the Panthers but - I was wrong - it looks like ... thanks for the heads up ... the loss last night drops the peake out of the top 8 I'm afraid as well ... wow ...

Roundtown finished at 11-9 and Westfall at 9-11.

The 'ole Northwest Territory relocates to Southeastern High School Friday for a doubleheader involving Circleville and the Court House followed by Logan Elm taking on that fraud school called Northwest which is really Southwest. Think I have grounds for copyright infringement.

Seriously, everyone be safe in their travels around the southeast as the ROAD TO THE CONVO begins.

Looks good except NA and LC split and NA won the league....over LC and has the better record.

I think GM is too high....but tourney will tell.

I92 ... my "napkin stats" have Lynchburg Clay winning the LAST game vs North Adams Friday night which pushed the LC team over NA in the final standings ...

Pfloyd,
The loss against Lynchburg did not hurt them in league standings. They won the league outright with a record of 11-2. LC has a league record of 9-4. NA also beat LC at Lynchburg by 20. LC also lost to Huntington outside of league play which puts their record at 15-5, not 16-4.

Rock Hill finished 11-9 pfloyd... nonetheless, a great job this year! Sorry the Redmen were never able to move into the elite... Hopefully we can make a little tourny run.

Sectional Semi-Final SVC Preview

2/11, 8PM @ Waverly
(13-7)Adena vs. Portsmouth West
West fans have complained all year about being ignored in the Elite 8, well tonight is their big chance to prove pfloyd wrong. Adena has been rolling lately, even though it took big 3's from Clay Roll(Unioto) and Buddy Barnes(Huntington) to keep them from recent losses. Many thought that Adena would be down after losing 5 starters from last year's team, but they have rebounded nicely and finished better in the league this year, compared to last year.
Prediction: Adena wins a close one, 61-55

2/12, 8PM @ Waverly
(12-8) Zane Trace vs. (9-11) Portsmouth
This should be a fun ballgame. ZT has been rolling as of late, but hit a BIG stumbling block in a loss at Paint Valley(who is playing much better) Portsmouth is a big, young team who can really score. If ZT can get some mental toughness and come out hot, they have a very good shot in this game.
Prediction: Portsmouth will be too much, 64-60

2/12, 6:15PM @ Valley
(4-16) Paint Valley vs. Portsmouth Notre Dame
Wow, the SVC has a good number of games vs. Portsmouth schools! Paint Valley has played much better in the past couple of weeks, beating Zane Trace and taking Unioto to overtime before losing at the buzzer. They have a ton of heart and won't stop until the final horn. Their will to win should take them to a victory in this game.
Prediction: Paint Valley pulls away late, 58-46

2/13, 6:15PM @ Southeastern
(6-14) Unioto vs. Waverly
Unioto has been so close in so many games this season, but, so has Waverly. Both teams have faced heartbreak so many times and both could've easily been over .500. Unioto plays excellent halfcourt defense and has been able to take the other teams best player out of the game, while Waverly seems to have underachieved, but still has a lot of athletes and Trevor Walls.
Prediction: Unioto, 52-48

2/13, 6:15PM @ Waverly
(13-7) Piketon vs. Lucasville Valley
Piketon is young, athletic, and hungry. Valley likes to get up and down the court, a style that Coach Lisath used to play at Unioto. This should be one of the more fun games of the Semi-Final level, up and down all night.
Prediction: Piketon, 76-59

2/13, 8PM @ Waverly
(9-11) Westfall vs. Minford
Westfall is athletic, long, but very much underachieved this season. Minford has played better after a slow start, so I think this should be an interesting matchup. If Westfall can finally play up to their talents, they could make another run at a district title, but if they go through the motions, they will lose on Wednesday.
Prediction: Westfall in a close game, 67-65

Pfloyd...Meigs finished 8-12

Meigs finished 8-12 according to Fasteach. Must of missed one somewhere near the end of the campaign.
