2 straight seasons? That is quite an accomplishment. Well done and congratulations.

This year, the girls' team achieved the highest team GPA in the state. They ended the season with an overall GPA of 3.9277. The girls will receive a plaque in recognition of their accomplishment, courtesy of the Ohio Army National Guard.

Have the Basketball Coaches Association released that information officially yet? I have been looking for it since it was announced locally but am waiting for the official release to do the article. It is the highest in the state regardless of division. There are some very good students on that squad. And those girls earn their grades!

The JV squad is on a 40 game win streak. They won 19 games this year and 19 games last year and the last 2 games of the previous season. Most of those girls will comprise the varsity squad this coming year and the challenge will be greater. It is hard to say how the next JV squad will do but it is unlikely they will go undefeated.

But it will be interesting how this group will do. When Oak Hill played the JV the second time, they only played two quarters total. The first quarter, Oak Hill played two of their varsity starters and their first sub off the varsity bench. All three went onto play all four quarters of the varsity game and two were the leading scorers for that game. At the end of the first quarter, which was not Wheelersburg best performance in several respects, the Oaks, even playing three varsity, only led by 2 points. So these kids probably will do OK at the varsity level. Good speed but still short. :)

Good group of girls at Burg but still will nto compete with Oak Hill. Oak Hill beat Burg by 30+ both times and that is with Schmidt and Clay. I don't think that this JV team will be as better than the Burg team of this year at the varsity level.
