Waterford came out a little slow but flipped the switch in the second half, Valley had no answer...good win for the Cats and another district title.

Congrats to the Valley Lady Indians on your successful year! District Runnerup is nice! You have no seniors on the team, so work hard in the off season and continue the same next year.
Congratulations to the Waterford Lady Cats! Good Luck in the Regionals!
I have one question about the game. Why would a coach leave the "franchise" in the game until under 3 minutes to go with a 35 point lead?

Congrats to Waterford. Show the Nubians southeastern Ohio knows how to play ball. The Jeeps will start the night off right for you!
Valley girls you have nothing to hang your head over. You had an awesome year and will have everyone back next year. Keep up the good work.

As I expected, Waterford dominated. Once the Lady Cats started pressuring the ball, the wheels started to fall of the bus for Valley. Waterford just had to many athletes, and too much speed. Coach Close used the vast majority of his bench throughout the game, and Waterford really didn't seem to miss a beat.
Great game by King and Drayer. Jessie really ratcheted it up the second half and put the dagger into Valley. Good luck Lady Cats against the Nubians. I know that you can beat them, play your game and you will succeed!

OK, there's 5 minutes left in the game and they are obviously in control. Let's begrudge the coach and his program, because they were trying to work on some things to prepare for next game.
There were no steals out of the press at that point. Once someone started whining about it in the stands, they completely stopped and the first trip down the floor for Valley without the press, Drayer pickpocketed their point guard and went untouched "coast-to-coast" for a lay-up.
I smell good, were you even at the game? I'm guessing you are just a Waterford hater, from another TVC Hocking school.

Steely, I don't have a don't in this hunt, but even the radio announcer said that it was poor sportsmanship to still be pressing in the 4th quarter with a 30 point lead and still having all the starters in.
So don't be too hard on I Smell Good.

Yes I was at the game Steely.
I am a fan of all purple and gold teams.
I didn't think it was right to have your press on with a 30 point lead.
I am a hater of teams that try to run scores up. Seems that happened a lot this year with Waterford.

OK, ISG, please provide some examples where Waterford ran up the score. Facts please, not opinion. Eastern got throttled in their first game against Waterford, and performed much better in the second meeting, with Turley in the post, plus the team just got better.
Waterford could have beaten Southern much worse than what they did, especially in the last meeting.
I'm a Fed Hock supporter, and while I don't agree with some of Jerry Close's tactics, and his attitude at times towards his opponents (I'm not going to elaborate), I sat there and watched the game yesterday, and didn't see anything unsportsmanlike. This was the district final. If you get that far, you ought to be able to compete, and play 32 minutes. This isn't biddy league ball.

Re: D4 District Final Waterford Lady Cats vs Lucasville Valley
So you just stated examples where games got out of hand on more than once.
For a young team I thought Valley did well and to keep it on them like that I believe is demoralizing.
Indeed it's not biddy league so to keep your star in at all once you are up that much is BUSH LEAGUE. What if she would have gotten hurt? She could have rested from about half way through the 3rd on.
So I stand by my initial thoughts.
You stay classy.

Re: D4 District Final Waterford Lady Cats vs Lucasville Valley
I always do...........And I stick to the facts. Nothing anecdotal. If you feel the one game that I cited is an example, you are completely wrong.
What I do find interesting is that there were quite a few folks on here before the game saying that Valley was dangerous, don't overlook them, etc., etc.
I asked a very simple question, that no one would answer. What changed between last year and this year for Valley, that would change the outcome?
No one could provide any facts, or compelling arguments, from Valley, to back up their claims.
It is too bad that you feel that your opponent yesterday "ran it up" on Valley, because they didn't. They could have won by 50+ if Coach Close had wanted to do so.
Watching the game as an unbiased observer, I felt no disrespect, or poor sportsmanship, from either team. Guess that some people are a little more sensitive than me.

Yea I thought Valley was supposed to be good, the SOC didnt look so tough in this one. I suppose Waterford just caught em on a bad day.
