Re: Clay vs. Waterford @ the Convo 3/3/10
This is the tournament! It is about fine tuning for the next game not about keeping the score respectable for the other team. People just can't get over the fact that Waterford is better than everyone else. That their junior high team could compete with a lot of the teams they play in their league & at the sectional & district level.
If you don't like them fair enough but you don't need to bad mouth them because they work harder & are better or wish ill on them at the next level. Support the local teams & be proud that this area has produced a dominant contender.

If so, then god be with him at the regionals when he is unable to do the same things he's done in the district all year. Paybacks are heck
Actually, my friend, Coach Close has shown a great deal of restraint in this game. I've listened to the entire game tonight. I think that the Southern debacle taught him a valuable lesson, as it should have!!!!!!!!!
Let's see how it turns out. I've been listening to the game, and coach close has been very liberal with his substitution pattern tonight

Hey, not bad mouthing them "jumpstop14". Great team and along with South Webster I hope one of them makes it to state. I live about 10 minutes from Pickerington North where the regionals will be played and have gone over the past few years cheering for South Webster, Eastern, Waterford, Trimble and the like to upset someone from up here. I'm hoping this year will be different in DIV as we all know Berlin Hiland has switched regions and Africentric moved up a division. Harvest Prep is about 5 minutes up the road and we all know what they do but they've not been this far before even though they are ranked #3 in the state poll coming into the tournament. Of the other possible teams that are coming from the Lexington region to Pickerington, 3 are Catholic Schools (Sandusky St. Mary's, Mansfield St. Peter's and Norwalk St. Paul) with the other being Plymouth (a very good small basketball school, both boys and girls). I feel this year that with the exodus of Africentric and Hiland (as of last year) the Regional is wide open for an upset and that SEO has their best chance in years to get to the finals. With that being said, go SEO.

Waterford 71,Clay 35 FINAL. About as ugly as advertised. But probably could have been worse knowing the nature of Waterford running scores up.But, 71-35 is still pretty bad...

Well, so much for the spirit bus that broke down in Jackson. The Panther spirit squad didn't show until the second half, lmao.
Anyway. Congratulations to Waterford. They have a great following and a couple of really good players in King and Brown. And I must admit their fans and players displayed great sportsmanship. The Wildcats owned the offensive boards tonight and Clay didn't have an answer for anything.
I just hope this game serves to motivate the Clay girls in the off-season. They will be returning all five starters, but they are simply not a well conditioned team and they lack quickness. They do have a couple of younger players and a transfer that should help immensely next year with both. I hope Coach Castle realizes how soft his team is physically and does things a bit differently to prepare them for the grind of next season.
I am also extremely proud that our girls didn't quit and kept fighting to the bitter end. All in all, it was a very good season for a very young, overachieving team.

final was 71-35 i believe? clay played hard but was just outmatched. waterford has a nice team and a couple of really good players. the thing i didnt like about them was that clay would put in there second string guards in and waterford would press in the 3rd and 4th quarters when they were up 30? also, clay took out its starters with 5 minutes left and waterford kept there starters in still pressing until 2 minutes left.

Why should a coach call mercy its the frigin district final for crying outloud, coach getting them ready for regionals. Good job Lady Cats!
Re: Clay vs. Waterford @ the Convo 3/3/10
From what I can gather from earlier post, Waterford has run scores up on other teams. That's an individual coaches decision, but I hate to see it. You can argue that you are tuning up, but you can also argue that your younger players will be your future stars and need the experience. If I were up 30 points with 5 minutes, I would pull my starters first and let my subs get some playing time against the other teams starters.
As far as paybacks, that rarely happens, some coaches don't mind running up scores, others don't so when they get a chance to "payback", they usually pass.
