I spoke to her personally and she is not interested in it.
She is working on her career as an administrator and is very content with it.

She'll be back someday.Where? Who knows...She misses it badly,I could see it in her eyes when I asked her.Whenever that day comes someone will be getting an awesome coach and an even better person.

I wonder how many of the individuals who applied last year will throw his or her name back in the hat once again?

I talked to her about it again today.
I doubt that she will coach again. She goes to plenty of games and enjoys not having the stress of coaching.
She likes being an administrator. Most schools do not want them to be coaches. Portsmouth is moving in that direction.

I doubt that quite a bit.
Like I said, she wants to be an administrator. That is her focus now.
How many school superintendents are head basketball coaches?
I would guess that would be zero. I believe that is a law.

If being a Superintendent is her ultimate goal more power to her!

Many schools are stopping administrators from coaching.
It can be a conflict of interest.

What happened to the coach and assistant we had? Didn't we just hire him prior to this school year?
Re: Portsmouth Varsity Girls Head Coach Position Available
Anyone with any sense could clearly see he wasn't the long term answer.I knew he wouldn't make it more than one year and I was right. You need a young vibrant coach for this job. This is a long term project not a quick fix.
Re: Portsmouth Varsity Girls Head Coach Position Available
I guess in hindsight they wouldn't have to be a young coach as long as they have the passion to build a program back up from the bottom.Good luck to whoever they hire!

Re: Portsmouth Varsity Girls Head Coach Position Available
But that probably mean hiring someone new who is willing to hang in there and build the program, it needs to start from the biddy league level and thru Jr High. It would take a coach willing to open the gym during the summer, ensure the girls who want to play get to the shootouts and camps. Ensure that a "winning" attitude is being developed, now I didn't say "winning at all costs" just when you win it breeds a winning attitude, just as losing does the same. Alot of time to build a program, but Portsmouth had a great program in the past and yes it could be again. Have they foudn anyone yet? Last I heard they had some interst within?
