Miami Trace (8-0) @ Unioto (7-1) 12/22
MT plays at Unioto @ 1pm. This December matchup could decide who gets the #1 seed at the Adena sectional. I've been wanting to see these two teams play each other for a long time since they have usually been the #1 and #2 seeds for the past decade at Adena but one has always gotten knocked off before they could meet.

MT has to play better than they did Weds or they'll get beat. It was their worst game they've played in awhile but i hoping that's a good thing and Coach Ackley should have them refocused for Saturday. MT' has a tough schedule is coming in the next 2 weeks, they play Unioto, Greeneview (8-0) 12/28, Wheelersburg 12/29 and Clinton Massie (6-1) 1/9.Ironman92 wrote:I'll guess MT by 9

Unioto will be playing their first game without 6' junior Tori Cox who tore her ACL at Piketon last night. Thankfully she'll have another year to play, but the number of those injuries for Unioto girls is very startling at this point.
Hopefully the Lady Shermans can pull it together and have a good performance tomorrow afternoon.

Sorry to hear that, dani. That's a pretty big blow to the Lady Shermans. Hope she recovers fully and comes back to have a great senior year.

Since January of 2010 I can recall 7 Lady Sherman's with ACL/MCL type knee injuries.
That's an average of 2.33 per year.
Two came in soccer, one in softball, the rest have been in basketball.
I wish I could point out why we have seen such an increase in knee injuries but I can't.
Some theories I have heard include:
•Too much year round activities starting at young ages. Never letting the body heal and grow.
•Too much playing on Asphalt and concrete surfaces.
•Too aggressive of shoes/cleats.
Not enough slide and give at the ankles which makes the knee absorb the constant torc athletes put forth.
• Too aggressive of play
• The design of the female is different then males
which makes them more acceptable to knee injuries.
Like I say these are just theories I have heard.
anybody else hear what could be the reason
for the increase in knee injuries on the girls side of high school athletics?

Very unfortunate, and hate to hear this. She is a good kid who was really coming on! Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Dani, So sorry to hear this about this young lady. Hate when this happens to any player boy or girl. She does have one more year, and I wish her all the best in her recovery.danicalifornia wrote:Unioto will be playing their first game without 6' junior Tori Cox who tore her ACL at Piketon last night. Unioto beats Miami Trace 43-38
MT shot horribly from the field but give credit to Unioto they made their shots when they had to and Trace didn't. The Lady Panthers had to be something like 3/20 or maybe worse from outside the arc and probably shot under 20% total for the game.

Sounds like they may be a little over rated, one of the U's studs tore her ACL and they still answer the bell! Great job Sherman's! That ball club seems to be gelling!

I'm not sure if you can call MT overrated, as they did give Adena their only loss. But, it's definitely a great win for the Lady Shermans, especially with facing adversity.Pol Pot wrote:Sounds like they may be a little over rated, one of the U's studs tore her ACL and they still answer the bell! I'm very proud of the Lady Shermans and still hoping for a speedy recovery for Tori, she's a great kid.

I went to the Adena/MT game and Miami Trace shot very well from the floor and played good defense. Sounds like they struggled shooting today and still only lost by a few points. They are a good team and this is a good win for Unioto.
