SVC All-League
Now that the regular season is over, voting for All-League takes place later this weekend. Any thoughts on the SVC's all league teams? COY? I think it's been an exciting year with several upsets that I wouldn't have expected and lots of good young talent coming up.

Re: SVC All-League
Not as much participation as I hoped so I'll give my take. I am fairly new to posting to the site and thought this might be something interesting to talk about now that the regular season is over. After some thought, here is my first team of the Scioto Valley Conference. Bear in mind, I am no expert and only have the games I've seen and the information I've heard and read from local media to inform my decisions. Here goes:
First Team:
Jenny Grigsby- Adena (POY)
Alexis Overly- Unioto
Natalie Cooper- Adena
Hayley Carle- Zane Trace
Charlene Stout- Paint Valley
I attempted to make a second team but didn't find the job so easy--I definitely don't envy the coaches trying to rank these girls. I think Mallorey Retherford (Unioto) and Kylan Strausbaugh (Zane Trace) are worthy. I also think a WF player should make the cut but I cannot determine who Westfall's best player is. I have seen this team 2-3 times and have been impressed with a few of the girls. They have a lot of young talent to look out for in the next few years.
Piketon has two players (Kalen Jenkins) and (Aleah Pelphrey) that I think will make the top 15. I can see one on 2nd team and the other on 3rd but I cannot determine which one is superior--I haven't seen them play enough.
As for the other two teams in the SVC, I see a Jackie Kellough making third team for Huntington and Southeastern getting a third-team selection. With SE, I am not entirely sure who their best player is--each team I've seen them they've had a different leader.
Again, definitely not an expert and do not know how the coaches do it--but they are much more informed than I am.

Nice list.
As always I find the SVC Sports Zone all league
Teams to be better then the ones put out by
The coaches.
The sports zone think tank is not bogged
Down with the politics that play such a huge
Role in how the coaches vote.
Not only with all-league honors but also at the
District and All-State levels.

I completely agree Xtoxxvii. Shayne Combs has done a nice job over the past few years of evaluating who the best players in the league really are. I look forward to hearing his picks tomorrow at the boy's draw.

Nailed it on the first team for sure. I think Jackie Kellough makes 2nd team, alon with Jenkins, Retherford, Straughbaugh, and I'll toss out Stonerock as the Westfall representative.

Re: SVC All-League
"X" I appreciate the kind words.
Few articles I enjoy writing more than the all-league teams every year. For the girls, the article will be released Monday night, but you do not have to wait until then to find out. You can get the first release of the top-15 players by listening to our LIVE podcast Sunday at 2 PM – The show will take place during the 30-40 minutes the coaches go to the rooms to vote. When the coaches come out, we will stay live to release the brackets and interview all the SVC coaches. Here is the link to go to Sunday at 2 PM...
