Vinton County Girls- U turn?

Post by jacksonfan13 »

A lot of talk in the area about these girls. Have played many good games lately. 3 big wins the last 3 for them. Beating Meigs 61-31. They did whatever they wanted with Wellston with, a win of 49-19....and then today they crushed Hocking Federal 79-37. These girls on the UP! Several standout players With Puckett and Hale averaging in the 20`s . Hale been hitting the 3 ball in the last 3-4 games like crazy. Good run for the Viking. A lot yet to come from these girls. Keep that kind of playing up and not only could they finish the season on a high note, but could shift some big momentum for them in a good tournament run. Good luck to the Vikings.

Those are 3 very impressive wins against some very stiff competition. I think Wellston and my almamater have each won 3 games.

I know it was a loss, but I think the attitude, teamwork, and believing in each other improved with the Zanesville game. The girls worked well together and although they were down 12 at half, fought their way back to only being down 5 with 1:30 remaining. They ended up losing by 8, but have not lost since. I know the next 3 opponents were not the strongest competition, but they played well and their confidence has improved.

Federal boy from the early 70's, graduate of 72', went off to college and been living in Vincent ever since. I need to prove nothing to you. Go Blue! And we will take Vinton in the tournament gladly! Buzzard will drop 30 on them, and Riffle will lock them down in the back court!

At first I thought this topic was a joke. Bearing those teams does not make you a good team.

The new VC coach will have this team improving in each game and it will show in the end.

I wouldn't be so sure about these remarks. I doubt the game will be played with the warren local officials so she may get into foul trouble a little easier. May see them play like bulls in a China shop. Remember last year during tourney time someone said Warren would go far, that Athen may have beat them in regular season but the BIG W would handle them in tournament....Warren lost by 27.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a new year, and last year we were beat up at tourney time, Riffle went down, Lynch was out and we were missing another. Victoria is back and dialed in, we will be on a roll now! But of course all you guys want to yell sour grapes because of officials.

Sour grapes? No problem with Warren...Especially since Jackson has pretty handily carried that rivalry in the League against them. In pretty much ALL sports, not just girls basketball. :122245

Last 4 years, Warren has won more than they have lost in girls basketball with Jackson, they have owned the all-time series. Boys basketball? you can count on your fingers the number of Jackson wins the past 20 years. Baseball Jackson has had recent success, same with softball. Warren owns the Ironmen in Volleyball, CC, Track, wrestling. If you are going to troll, at least have some basic facts at your disposal.

running up the score on Wellston and Federal hocking is not impressive. Everyone beats them by bunches.

I am talking this decade. And like I said..the majority of sports... football , baseball, softball, girls basketball. Looking at tournament success, league titles, it's not even a debate.

Like I said, last 4 years, and this is 2014, so that would be this decade! You want to count the number of District titles by the schools in that time? go right ahead! You will experience the "Blue" Flu. Or how many trips to the State Championships? or how about how many All-Sports titles between the two schools in that period of time!

Recap after last night. 4-8 overall 2-5 in the TVC lost to NY twice Athens at least once and Alexander at least once. 4 wins against poor teams. Yep I'd say they will be ready and rolling as the year goes on.

I don't know who Jackson13 is (although I appreciate his post), but I think the point of this is the team has improved. No one is saying they are going to rule the mighty TVC, but they have improved. Last night was a perfect example. The first game against Nelsonville was a total blowout. Last night was better. We are working on playing together, learning the new coaches philosophy, and gaining confidence. They still have a long way to go, but they are improving.

Jacksonfan13, that U-Turn is more like a 360' instead of a 180'. When you going to learn these AAU gurus can't coach high school talent. May be the worse team we've played.
