Re: Reedsville Eastern at Jackson 12/9 Radio Coverage
Jackson radio 97.7 and 98.7 had Vinton on one station and Oak Hill on other and 96.7 didnt carry game. I92 give us some insight, sounds like we came out flat (???) and just never recovered....what Eastern do to shut us down? Couldn't make it up tonight.
Re: Reedsville Eastern at Jackson 12/9 Radio Coverage
Definitely surprised by the margin of victory.
Eastern is the real deal though.
Learn from it and move on to the next one.

Goodness people...let me get home lol
Eastern Meigs 67
Jackson 45
Eastern came out and simply put on a clinic in the first half....I know no other way to say it. Eastern moved the ball on offense like I haven't seen....they ran the floor as good as I've seen and they had hands everywhere on defense. They were simply excellent and a joy to watch play.
Near the end of the 3rd quarter Jackson started moving the ball better, got a few looks, helped on defense and made some plays. The girls played hard. We did get winded but gave it what they had.
Point totals and statistics....I typically don't care to be a little off so I'll throw some ROUGH estimates/guesses since it's not life or death and just trying to give many of you an idea.
**** No stats are definite
Poe 12 pts and probably got around 10 rebounds. Annie Speakman had 8 points. Wills 4 points and was very active on defense around the perimeter. Hoover 3 points, maybe 7 or 8 boards...good defense. Ridout somewhere around 10 points and good hustle all game even when down 25 she kept at it. Kacee Jenkins about 7 points 4 boards and kept things active underneath preventing easy boards or layups. Abby Waugh chipped in 2 points and always plays well in her time.
Burdette was just so effortlessly quick and smooth....she simply reminded me in so many ways to Beth Howe. I think she had 22 and about 5 of every other stat there is. Parker was incredibly smooth as well and just did everything well. I think she's signed to Alderson Broaddus (sp). Keller had a very good first half and moved well for a center. They had 6 girls that were very good and played their 7th and 8th girls giving them solid minutes throughout. As a whole game they can return to the Final 4.....with a game like they played in the 1st half...they are maybe state championship contenders.
Nice crowd on both sides...I thought the refs were fine. (No one is perfect people)
Would love to see a rematch but Jackson has a juggernaut of teams still to face. Best of luck to Eastern the rest of the way and Jackson heads to Minford Wednesday.
Keep your heads on the 2 main goals girls....your focus, execution and coach will get you there.

Re: Reedsville Eastern at Jackson 12/9 Radio Coverage
Good run down I92 ... How did the freshmen play for Eastern? (Laura Pullins #11) ... I thought she really added another solid player to the Eagles this year - to what was a rather short bench last year for them.
Re: Reedsville Eastern at Jackson 12/9 Radio Coverage
I think the first girl off the bench but a very nice player. Like most of them...very efficient and smooth in moving. Maybe around 7 points and a bit of everything else.93Bulldog wrote:Good run down I92 ... How did the freshmen play for Eastern? (Laura Pullins #11) ... Oh man. That Eastern team is special. Their quickness made it appear the iron ladies were playing in cement slippers.
Yes Jackson will win many games this year but not against the level of team Eastern is.
The girls are going to have to work hard for their victories this year.
But a nice team for the area.

Eastern people should be settling in.....any thoughts?
It's always fun seeing 5 people (maybe) post on these Ironladies threads and 400+ views.

I wasn't at the game. I was told Burdette and Swatzel took over the first half. Easterns defense seems to be the best it has been in quite a while. It's nice to see te whole team chipping in because that's what it will take to make it back to the final four. Jackson shouldn't hang their heads. I'm sure they are better than this score indicates

Re: Reedsville Eastern at Jackson 12/9 Radio Coverage
The difference in the game was the first half. Eastern made several extra passes for better shots and was solid in providing help side defense in the post.
Eastern played really well as a group and came ready to play.
This is a win-win game. Both teams will be better in the postseason because of it.
Good luck Ironladies the rest of the way.

Re: Reedsville Eastern at Jackson 12/9 Radio Coverage
I'm out on another snow day so I was bored and dug a little deeper on this. The quickness and conditioning of the Eastern kids was very evident throughout the game.
Burdette.....TRACK District Champ in 4x200, 4x400, regional qualifier in 5 different events, state qualifier in the 4x400 and long jump (most of these accomplishments multiple times)
Parker....TRACK District Champ in 4x200 and Regional Qualifier in 2 events. (Multiple seasons of this)
Rigsby....TRACK District Champ High Jump, 800m, 4x200, 4x400, 4x800 STATE QUALIFIER in the high jump, 4x400 and 4x800 (multiple times of most)
Keller....District Champion shot put, regional qualifier discus (multiple times)
Pullins (only a freshman)....1st team all district XC, #4 best XC runner in the SE D3 District 29 teams. Jr High track TVC Champion 1600m, 400m and long jump.
Palmer (JV guard) District XC individual champion, state qualifier. TRACK District Champion 4X800, regional qualifier 800m and 1600m, state qualifier 1600m and 4x800 (few of these multiple times)
They are obviously very good athletes anyways....but I've always had the strong belief that track and/or XC greatly helps athletes get even more ready and quicker for other sporting seasons.
