Question for D-3 games at Waverly
Are they played at the new High School or at the old gym downtown?

What is up with the games being so spread apart?
I mean the Waverly 1 teams have a 9 day lay-off in between games. The Waverly 2 teams have a 7 game lay-off and the Waverly 3 teams only have a 5 day lay-off in between games.
Who designed those brackets and since when did the Waverly district start sending 3 teams to the Regionals?

First of all, I wouldn't complain that we are getting to send three teams to regionals. That is a blessing. Our district has more D3 teams than any other district so they decided to let us send 3 teams to district.
The games are spaced out because there are also boys tournament games at Waverly. They put the teams that will be playing each other in the district finals on the same day so that they have the same layoff.

MOF, definetly not complaing about the three teams from this district getting to go to the regionals. That is a huge plus and it gives possibly a team that has never been there a chance to play in the regionals.
After I posted what I posted I realized they are doing the same thing with the boys. The Burg boys also have a 9 day layoff in between games. That is jsut crazy!!!!!! Like Coach Barrick said last night after the Burg boys game, it causes you to restructure your practices, because you don't want to practice them to much and wear them out in practices.
They need to figure out a better system then what they have now. With all of these new schools building these, big nice gyms, maybe they need to look into using other facilities. Portsmouth now has a big gym. Shoot, back when I was in school, Portsmouth was always the site for sectional games.

The Downtown Gymnasium is a nice facility. Very handy right off 23 too for the out-of-town fans coming in. Very nice drive from Roundtown.
I'll take the Southeastern Gym, that's my favorite out of the gyms in the area, but Waverly should be proud of the old gym. Just because it's old doesn't mean it isn't good.

Would someone be so kind as to give directions to the downtown gym if I'm approaching from the east on St. Rt.32? I've been told to go past 23 and turn right onto 104.
Is this the best way, and if so, can someone provide some more complete directions to the gym downtown?
Very much appreciate any help!

There is no need to cross all the way to 104. Exit off to 23 North towards Chillicothe. You take 23 North to Waverly and you exit off at St Rt 335 to get to the gym.You can see the football stadium and gym on the right before you turn off onto 335.If you pass a Bob Evans restaurant you have gone too far.Steely Dan wrote:Would someone be so kind as to give directions to the downtown gym if I'm approaching from the east on St. Rt.32? These district games are not filling Waverly's downtown gym, why would you want to play at such a massive place as the convo? I think the atmosphere at Waverly is very good, something that would be lost at the convo. There is plenty of parking, equal seating, bathroom facilities and excellent concessions at Waverly. You want to pay to park and get robbed at the concession stand by playing to the convo?

After watching my first game at the Waverly gym tonight, I must agree, I love the atmosphere and the ease of getting to the gym, and getting out of the parking lot.
For all of you folks that live over that way, it is more convenient, obviously, than Athens. Nearly a 100 mile drive one way for us, but worth the drive. I'll be happy to come back for the next couple of years to catch district games in this gym. It has "character" and atmosphere to it, not like the new gyms that are built today that feel sterile.
