:122246 WOW. Too many forget that these are kids and they read this forum as well as JJ. Some comments are from them as well as parents, aunts & uncles as well as a grand parent or two. I hope that they are taken with a grain of salt or maybe a pound or two would be better. Past practice has shown that too many in a higher position(s) are afraid of backing a coach and letting them coach for fear of offending some mommy or daddy, what a shame. I suppose this happens everywhere to some degree, but Warren seems throw its laundry, clean or dirty, in the street for all to see. Politics in school is a animal that has reared its ugly head for decade after decade here. Who has the right last name or who's parents spend all their time brown nosing the staff and this is not just in Basketball, most sports are included in this. Even who has the most money to throw around. If a coach will not play the political game they are not kept around for long, something is done to get rid of them or make a sacrifical lamb out of them. Warren had a girls basketball coach literally forced out after they finished 2nd in the state and went deep into the playoffs the next year. All because a mommy was mad that her little girl was not the shinning star and was not allowed to do whatever she wanted. So how about leaving the coach to coach, let him and his staff find a combination that can work together and support the girls. Maybe they will learn to be better sports than their parents or at least not be forced to have their parents live vicariously thru them. O'well I will get of the soap box and wish the coach and the girls all the success they can get for the balance of the season.
Go Warriors!!!!!

Warren drops a rough game, 46-67, to Zanesville this afternoon in Vincent. Z-ville had a serious size advantage. I think the Lady Warriors are still trying to find their groove. It may be rough going for a while until they find it, but there's a reason they play a regular season before the playoffs start.

Warren JV wins a nailbiter, 38-35, thanks to clutch foul shots in the final few minutes.

The j.v. game was exciting! That squad plays has a team, they pass the ball to
each other. They want to win has a team. I have watched a few of the games,
it looks like the varsity is worried about who will get the most points. If you throw away the ball, why aren't you sitting down. Their are other girls just has capable of playing has the starting 4.EXCEPTION BROOKS SHOULD ALWAYS START!!!! They will never find their grove until they play has a team. One of the coaches has to see 2 of the girls will not pass the ball to other girls. Give me a break this is H.S. not 6th grade ball. Sit them down till they play team ball.

IT IS NOT WHO SCORES,IT IS WHO GETS THE BALL TO THE SCORER!!! (larry bird)

Try playing team ball! Good Luck Lady Warriors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Extremely well said, 7072. Quite possibly the truest post I've read on this particular thread. Couldn't have said it any better...

Varsity girls dip under .500 with tonight's 59-54 loss to New Lexington in Vincent. New Lex held a 10-15 point lead most of the game, and Warren rallied to down 3 with less than 30 seconds left. New Lex hits two freethrows, and Warren's sunk.

Warren JV lays a beatdown, 57-14. At halftime, it was 32-2.

Once again the j.v. played team ball. Two varsity players have this thing about getting the most points , No team ball being played their. How did the one girl make
the team? She is horrible and everyone can see this, she starts and plays most of the game. Does the coach want to win or is he afraid of the parents. If he can't figure out two girls will not pass the ball to the other girls, then he will lose games.
It did get going when the freshman Richards and Lauer got in the last 7 minutes. They need some one that can take the ball up the floor and keep it. They did knock
down points the last 8 min. If you want to see team ball, watch the J.V. coach. It does not matter what grade they are in if they are the best players, put them in
the game. The name of the game is to win, not to please the parents.

GOOD LUCK MALLORY BROOKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHS76,
Remember he is trying to please parents and his boss (who is also a parent that hand picked him). Watch the discussions between Lefingwell and Werry during and after the games....he hired hims so he could influence what is going on. He (Lefingwell) even tuaght the offense during the summer camp.

I mean look at Werry's resume...AVERAGE. In 9 years his has only won one seciontal title and has had talened teams at Belpre and WArren. Belpre's program was two 20-0 seasons prior to Werry to 1-20 his last year. Now here we go again at Warren...very sad for the girls and the program. It's time for parents to speak up before its too late to our kids suffer. He's had time to show his abilities and needs to realize he is not the guy for the our children.

You are right the parents should speak up before the season is done. I'm not one
of the parents, just a fan. Coach Leffingwell and Weary should actually give the
J.V. coach the job. I think he plays to win. He is not afraid to sit a girl down if
she is not getting it done. What happens if a parent complains? They get labled
has a trouble maker. Lets face it , it's who you know and where you work. The
talented kids do not have parents in the school system or do not suck up.
Good luck with this coaching staff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHS76, You don't need to come on here saying negative things about the players. If you were indeed a true fan you would not involve players in your tirades about the coaches. If you have it out for the Head Coach please leave it at that. Please support the girls they really do appreciate it.

It's Christmas, quit bashing people.

Coach is the coach until the season's over, so get over it, everyone. Werry is a nice guy, the girls like him, and the whole team is still trying to find their legs. Remember, these girls were not the varsity starting lineup last year, and, last year, Mallory was not the only scoring threat (no disrespect to the other girls, but they aren't hitting shots from anywhere and everywhere). Give it some time, they will start to figure it out.

Warren has a history of not lettting their coaches coach, and hopefully, Leffingwell is giving Werry his space. He has a right to speak to the coach, his daughter does play on the team.

Merry Christmas, and Go Lady Warriors!

jcbigblue, we all have opinons and are allowed to voice them. This does not
mean I was bashing the girls. You are reading something into my words that
was not their. Are you the editor of this forum. You can give Werry all the time
he needs, at the end of the season come back and tell me his record. The girls
may like him, he is a very nice guy. Sorry that does not win games. Has for
the girls, you have to play the best. After the many years in this school system
nothing ever changes POLITICAL, AND A BUNCH OF SUCK UPS. Watch the
game has a fan not has a parent, maybe you will change your mind. If you can
do that you can see what is going on. Good luck to all the girls.
Good Luck Warriors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND SAFE HOLIDAY!

WOW! Can I say it again, WOW....It is absolutely amazing to me how bold and degrading a person can be on here when there is no accountability...since we're all hiding behind our user names. If we were truly a fan of high school athletics and wanted the best for our communities' children, we would quit this bashing. We sound like a bunch of people passed over for the job that Coach Werry was hired for.?.

If we were truly rational we would realize that while this team is athletic and has a decent scorer or two, they lack a couple things....size and team quickness. You can't coach size and there's only so much anyone can do to improve quickness (don't confuse quick with speed). WHS will match up well with teams their own size but will have problems with a team that has even an average post player. Just the facts.

As far as "what's best for the team"...let's hope that we are not placing more importance on winning than on the people. As far as that goes, Werry is hands-down the classiest act in our area. Do you ever see him belittle his players? He may get in their face, but he never disrespects them or verbally abuses them. In the classroom, he is a great teacher, talk w/ parents, students, administrators....whoever. He is very committed to developing the whole person, not just the athlete portion. I hope he is still coaching when my children are ready to go.

When the players fully buy into the system, you will be amazed....so let's make sure we come back and give praise then as freely as we are throwing our rants around now. And since when is a season and five games enough time to prove anything?

Finally, I'm glad that someone else already posted this, but it's worth mentioning again...the players visit this site and read what you are saying....so if you think someone "doesn't deserve to be on the team or start" let's keep that too ourselves. Imagine how much more enthusiasm those girls who read the site will have with that type of conversation instead of what we've been putting out there for them to read.

Mr. Leffingwell...thanks for hiring and standing behind a stand up mentor!

Good luck Coach Werry....good luck Lady Warriors...everyone have a great Christmas.

Sorry but i am not a parent but truly a fan and i do see what's going on at the games. In my opinion coach is playing the best players at this time, now as the season goes on that may not be the case. Some of the underclass girls that are seeing some action now may progress and be better than the upperclass girls later in the season. Only time will tell. Everyone have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Good Luck Saturday Girls keep your focus and play strong.

Just wanted to add to what forthegoodofthekids said about Coach Werry. He puts everything he has into his program and respects everyone involved in the program. The Coach can only put the game plans together and practice plans together. He can not get on the floor and play for the girls. It is up to the girls to execute the plays that are put in front of them. The girls are great girls and keep your heads up and play hard. Coach keep up the good work. Let everyone else say what they want. Your a great guy and coach keep it up. It will come around.
