It sounds like a well played game. The kind the I would have enjoyed seeing. Was it this close the entire game? Valley always leading or a back and forth type of thing?

As for MOF starting this thread, he is probably one of the few people who would start it out of pure curiousty(sp). Yes he is an Oak Hill fan (obviously) but he is just interested in basketball as well, so I don't think he meant anything by the post except to find out 1. if Valley did beat Minford, 2. what was the score and 3. what kind of game was it. MOF is a pretty stand up classy guy so I just believe that his "motive" behind this thread were to find out about the game.

If thats true, then my apologies. I don't want to see the girl's hard work dismissed. They are going through what a lot of good teams go through sometimes and I'm sure will come out of it through practice. I'm sure their coaching staff will be there to help and they are doing a great job. They just have to pick up their defense and I think everything else will come around!

The good thing for Minford is that it is early in the season. Anyone who writes off the Falcons is making a mistake. I disagree that their defense is the problem. Holding Valley to 53 is not necessarily a defensive breakdown. They simply need to find themselves on offense. Valley is a very good team that will win a lot of games this year. Minford fans---give your coach some leeway, they will come around. High expectations can be a curse for a new coach with a new system. Best of luck to all SOC teams.

that was one of the best girls games i have seen in this area this early in a long time. both teams played very smooth yet agressively and scored actually running an offense against great defenses from both teams. good job by both teams very well played and good game to watch. and yes it was a back and forth game with minford leading as much as ten at one point but valley cut it with 2 treys from mains and free throws from bear. minford was fouling and not getting attempts while valley got the ball and was able to cut the lead for about a 2 to 3 minute stretch late in 3 period and valley tied it at 32 and then went ahead and i dont think lost it again but maybe another tied up in there somewhere.

Dont think, IMO, that 0-2 start is going to take the SOC II so what is left for the Falcons? Let's see; what is the next cliche when you can not win your league? Oh yes, "Wait till tournament time".

Valley girls are young but very talented. Minford has a nice club and is going to win alot of games. This was well played game and either team could have come away with the victory. The Valley girls started off slow like they did at Waverly and made a run in the second half to take this one. Coach Merritt has a really young team playing well early. Valley has their next 3 games on the road and 5 of their next 6 games are away, so we will soon find out how good this team is.. Minford is a well coached team and will win alot of games this year ,they play hard.
