This had to be just an unbelievable experience for these girls to be able to do something like this. Maybe it was mentioned in a previous post but how did this trip materialize? Is there some kind of connection for this tournament in Alaska through the coaching staff? How did the girls raise the money for this trip and how much did they have to raise?
Congratulations on playing well on this trip which had to make it that much better of an experience. Alexander must have some very good girls going through the high school right now. How many of the state championship volleyball players play on this basketball team?

There are three that were full time varsity, Lauren Raines, Whitney Smith, and Julie Els. Then Kayla Radekin that played JV and some varsity.
They Had 5 seniors make the trip Heather McClain, Emily Skidmore, Jenni Pyle, Lauren Raines, and Whitney Smith. One Junior Kate Guthrie and 4 soph Kayla Radekin, Julie Els, Morgan Grinstead, and Whitney Daugherty.
This was set up during last years season, not sure where the connection is. They had donations and fund raisers and the parents pay the difference.
A big Congrats to All these players everyone plays a role in their success.

this is just a great experience, not only for the girls but for the community. i recieved a video through a text and they are having a blast. it shows that they know how to have fun while keeping it business. for them to go up there and win the tournament makes me excited for the TVC. just going around the albany area i have heard people talk about them, people who i had no clue even knew where the school was.
great job girls, get ready for your hometown opponents.

Re: Lady Spartans bring home trophy
I would just like to add my congrats to the girls, for those faithful Spartan fans I can say with all certainty that the girls are a great representatives of your school, under all kinds of fire the girls held their tongues and focused on winning each and every game. I was so proud to see how the athletes of Alexander have not changed that much over the years, the coaches still hold their players to a higher standard and they (the team) always lives up to it.
For those of you that were not able to see these games I just have to say that the girls worked really hard, and they were difficult teams, Wasilla was the Alaska State Champion team last year and they were the Spartans first victim, then came the Aussie team, a very physical and quick team that gave us all a little scare but again the Mighty Spartans pulled through and finally the home court advantage goes to the Juneau Crimson Bears, a very large and very ,very physical team, given all the cat calls coming from the stands from the student section I just have to say again the Spartans represented, they did not allow the things from the stands to cause them to lose focus…………… this is a great bunch of girls and everyone in Ohio should be proud of the way they handled themselves. I can assure you that the rumors that were listed on this site were all false, there were no violations, the drinking age in Juneau is 21 and since I live in Alaska I can also say that it is strictly enforced!! And this Juneau guy who just created a site name is an actual real joke…… obviously he was not there because all the girls teams were red, black, and white in different variations.
This group of girls deserve any accolades that may be set upon them, they really worked hard, please don’t take away from what they have achieved by trying to stir up issues that do not exist, just say thank you for their representation , and congrats on their accomplishment!!
Finally to the coach, moms and girls !!! I MISS YOU ALREADY!!!
