Did WKKJ mess up again Toast? I hope so..They had the game the other way.If so,this is the second time they got me over the years...toast wrote:Ok SuperSiders. Thanks for the clarification. Time to move on.SuperSiders wrote:toast wrote:Granted it was a physical game. And there is nothing wrong with playing physical. But you have to maintain your composer and keep it clean. In the two games against West I don't remember any Waverly players drawing an intentional foul or receiving a technical foul.
When the game was at Waverly a West player received a technical foul for throwing a forearm and knocking a Waverly player to the floor. That's a pretty over the top forearm to receive a technical. If you're going to dish it out (physical play) you better be able to take it without resorting to throwing elbows, forearms and deliberate pushes after the play is over. Keep it clean!
I agree with everything you said toast, except the T at Waverly was not for an elbow. That was actually a clean play. West girl knocked down a Waverly girl then said something to her on the ground. That's what the T was for. Waverly is improving and I wish them the best, I can see them beating someone down the stretch.
Waverly gets a 52-48 win today over a nice Southeastern team.

Re: SOC 2
The first game with Waverly was chippy and West had two T's in that game. I saw West play against Ironton a few years ago and they tried that same type of crap but it was only after they were getting their butt's kicked.Maybe it's just a West thing??socvwatcher#1 wrote:The coaches have videos of the West game. I wonder what they show. I can only image what the punching, elbows and pushing looks like on film. I also heard that someone on the West side yelled for the West team to stop playing dirty. It sounds like even some of the West fans were seeing the "the more than aggressive" play.

Re: SOC 2
it has been said over and over andover again. West is physical yes we know now move on. at least we never had 2 or 3 girls crying at the same time! geesh there is no crying in high school. we did have one tho but our coach held her hand I heard lol
Re: SOC 2
Call it what it is. The West Waverly was physical. Waverly is aggressive defensively. They reach and slap the whole game. When the refs let it go that is what happens. Once it gets out of control its over.
The technical where the man was asked to leave his daughter was fouled no less than three times with no call. I was probably ten feet away. He and her both lost their cool. It's kind of human nature.

Re: SOC 2
Westfan, you failed to mention that the man who was escorted out of the game was upset because his daughter threw a punch and hit the Waverly player and thought she was going to be ejected from the game. She was mad because the Waverly player stole the ball from her. You might want to watch the video of the game. She did appear to be fouled by another player previously before that. Whether you are fouled or not fouled, agree or disagree with the refs calls, you don't intentionally throw punches at any players. In addition, the West player who threw the elbow into the Waverly player after the play was another prime example of a West player getting mad because they were defensively stopped from driving to the basket. The Waverly player had the breathe knocked out of her for a moment, but kept on playing. Neither time did the Waverly player walk off the court crying. These are only two examples of how West is out of control. It's up to parents, coaches and refs to keep this kind of human behavior under control and there should be consequences for these actions. If any of the West players are looking to play at the college level, they may want to rethink their attitude and behavior. I agree that there were bad calls both ways, but Waverly did not retaliate in intentionally trying to hurt any West players.

I never said anyone cried over anything. They were kids playing hard. Referees get in the mindset that they don't want to call fouls for whatever reason and that is what happens.START TIME wrote:Westfan, you failed to mention that the man who was escorted out of the game was upset because his daughter threw a punch and hit the Waverly player and thought she was going to be ejected from the game. I agree with The Oaf. As Increditable as it seems, some West fans try to justify this type of play. Also it was DIDO that stated someone was crying, but Westfan was also trying to justify the West players.
The crime at the time is that it happened without conquence. This is the ref's and coach's responsibility. The crime now is that people know what happened and no one is doing anything about it. If something is not done, West players will continue to think this is acceptable and some fans will continue trying to justify it. If someone has video, this may be the first step.

Completely accurate. First let me say that for the most part Westfan is a pretty good asset to the Seops community and I have no problem with him. He typically shows class and couth unlike the vast majority of the other posters from that side of the Scioto River. Secondly, I agree with socwatcher in that this barbaric display in West athletics, if gone unchecked, will only reiterate the 100% embracing of the "capt. caveman" mentality. Frankly, this embarrassment should sicken and shame all involved. Of course I know it doesn't.socvwatcher#1 wrote:I agree with The Oaf. Great to see the Lady Oaks getting #1 State ranking. Team chemistry seems to be a big strength for this group of girls. Each player accepts her role and all have each other's back. Team plays all out from tip off to final whistle. Got a tough challenge Monday against the Athens team. Win or lose still a very surprising and solid team. Go Lady Oaks!!!

Re: SOC 2
Not dealing with behavior is the only problem I have with the west situation. I saw this first hand in the first contest between west and waverly. The west girl got a technical for shoving a waverly player. The player and the JV coach and the player were laughing about it on the bench. Next dead ball she was right back in with no reprimand. That is why they continue to shove, throw elbows, throw punches. No consequences and sometimes encouraged by the coaching staff!
